It struck me that I'd written Keleero's backstory all wrong, in a way that has his backstory clashing with the short Steepside Mountain timeline I've written. So I edited it. Also, I've had him use magic that is greater than weak/average so I 'upgraded' his Rock-Shaping to average.
This got me thinking - what changes should we be allowed to make to our CISs without anyone being 'editor' of the changes and what should we ask the group's approval for?
My suggestions are:
- You can edit skills/magic level one step up/down the skill scale if you feel it would make more sense for your elf and their skill level hasn't really been established in-game. Levels for skills are: poor, poor/average, average, average/good, good, good/excellent, excellent. To begin to be excellent at something (i.e. good/excellent) your elf must be at least 500 years old. Levels for magic are: weak, weak/average, average, average/strong, strong.
- You can add to your elf's backstory as much as you like, as long as you don't give them never before spoken of insane powers or possessions (i.e. making your elf king of a group of trolls, giving them a shard of the Palace of the High Ones, upping your magic from 'weak' to 'strong'). You can also make small changes, but nothing huge (i.e. giving them a complete new birth tribe, changing their 'blood', making your peaceful gatherer into a bloodthirsty warrior without reason - it would make old threads not make any sense).
- Once your elf has said "these are the things I have", you're not allowed to add to what your elf brought with them from their home world. Also, once your elf has said "these are the things I have" you should write said things down in your CIS clearly (I myself have a very vague lists for Choice's and No-Sting's possessions that I plan to expand on after the Gathering is done).
- That said, your elf can of course make new things here in Beacon Call as long as they have the materials and time (i.e. no building a full scale loom in half a day without wood, ok?)
- The same goes for skills and magic; your elf can of course improve with practice, but let them develop over time and through training.
- If you change something in your elf's CIS that might affect the 'Get to know the tribe'-thread, please PM me so I can edit that thread to account for your CIS edit.
Any comments? Thoughts? Protests?
