( OOC: Tag Skye and Juniper - let's go exploring!) IC:Keleero took a step down the tunnel he'd started to explore previously, one hand on one of its wall the entire time. His hand began to give off a faint glow as he searched for cracks or weaknesses in the walls and ceiling. "I'm sure this could be quite cozy, if we only got some heat and furs, or cloth, in here," Keleero said, desperate to keep the conversation going. Leading the way was bad enough, as it meant he had to trust the other two with his back turned, but queit elves behind your back were twice worse. "What are your people's mountains like?" It didn't even occure to him that all elves might not live in mountains.

Juniper kept on poking his sensitive spot on the hurt head, as if it would be helping it heal any quicker. He kept his blue eyes at the taller male, not sure if the tall elf would just lure the other two to a trap and then attack. Behind Keleero's back, he made a face at the notion of the tunnels and caves being cozy with accessories -- Juniper did not agree with the opinion.
He gave a questioning gaze towards the female of the group, when the tall elf asked about their mountains. Although he was not sure of the living conditions of the female of the group, he hesitantly raised his voice to reply on his own behalf: "I do not live in a mountain." The whole conversation was ridiculous to the male wolfrider, and the idea of living in a mountain was about as foreign idea to him as wearing a boot as a hat.

"Me either." She rubbed at her arms, trying not to let the chill get to her, but failing. "Just a lot of sand. I've seen mountains in the distance, but I've never got close to one."

Juniper and Sunset's replies brought Keleero up short. His mind went completely blank trying to comprehend that statement and he stopped walking suddenly enough that the others might crash into him if they didn't watch out.
"You don't?" he said with the pure shock of a person who'd heard the unthinkable. "B-but how have you lived then?"

Sunset stopped, blinking at him, confusion on her face. "Burrows, tents - i-it's not that difficult."

"Ehh, treedens and huts." Juniper commented on their living habitats. He should know, he had been creating lots of dens and wooden huts during his lifetime. It seemed to the treeshaper, like the gap between cultures was deeper than first impressions lead. To him, living in a tent or a burrow felt just as unpleasant idea, just as much as living inside a mountain, but he did not let that show on his face.
Keleero's sudden stop was just enough swift and sudden for the honey-blonde male to bump into him.

Keleero gave a startled squeak as Juniper bumped into him, jumping to float in the air for a few heartbeats on pure instinct. Catching his blunder he felt his cheeks heat, but lowered himself to the ground with some dignity. The matter at hand was far too strange to leave room for worrying about revealing his gliding magic.
Turning around, Keleero gave his two companions a most worried look. "But how do you stay safe like that?" Anything could climb a tree or topple a tent!
(OOC: Glad to have you back!)

OOC: My goodness, sorry, guys. >.<
IC: Frowning produced a small crease between her eyes. "Have you ever been in a desert? Any one who is able to get to us is generally too tired, dehydrated, or weak from hunger to attack us. Those who aren't one of those three - well, we have methods. Like being difficult to find."

"We have our ways. Nothing much can climb high up a tree. And my home is surrounded by prickly thornwall, of which I am real proud of." Juniper explained to the tall male, his face having a slightly smug expression on it. He picked up a word from the maiden, 'desert', and to be honest, he had never heard of such a thing.
"What is a desert?" he asked, genuinely curious -- he had not heard such a word and the whole concept was difficult to understand. It also sounded somewhat harsh place to live in, according to the things Sunset had told.

Keleero's mind was reeling. Not living in a mountain sounded like madness! What kind of world was there out there that could leave you too weak to defend yourself merely be existing?
"Yes, I too would like to know exactly what that desert is," Keleero said following Juniper's question to Sunset. "How does it leave your enemies exhausted and, what was that word, dehydrated? As for you Juniper, what sort of dangers are there where you come from?"
He didn't want to insult the elf - never good to make more enemies than one had to - but a thornwall and a tree didn't sound like much protection from human riders with torches.

Sunset blinked, brow wrinkling slightly. "Uhh. Where all of the water gets sucked out of you. Sand that goes on and on - the daystar makes it so hot that it burns."

Juniper shuddered a little at the explanation that was provided by the maiden. The treeshaper was almost sorry he had asked about it, the very idea of a desert made him feel a little uneasy. It was something he had never seen, and by the description had no desire to see. The honey-blond male had enough tact to keep these thoughts to himself, though.
He looked at the tall elf, who now seemed a little too curious about the dangers around his home. The fact was, his old tribe had moved away from the humans' way, even a couple of times, but the round-eared ones seemed to spread around quicker than mice, if the treeshaper had been any judge. He gave a wary side glance at the rockshaper, and said: "I'd rather not talk about it."

The desert sounded like terrifying place. What sort of elves were Sunset and her people to have survived there? "It sounds a little... harsh," was all Keleero could think to say.
At Juniper's answer Keleero had to hide a flinch. Stepping on toes was never a good way to make allies. Maybe sharing some information of his own would smooth things over?
"I'm sorry if I've stirred unpleasant memories. I merely asked to learn what dangers everyone here is used to handling. I fear I myself am no warrior, so the more strategists we have the better. Who knows what this land has to offer?"
He paused, more for effect than for need to collect his thoughts. "Though we lived in a mountain there were still dangers. Outside the mountain, that is." It would do no good to acknowledge the dangers other elves posed. Who knew what that could awaken? "We needed food like all other living creatures and for that our hunters had to brave all manner of predators, and... humans."
Keleero came to a stop in his telling, first to wait for the others' reaction and second because they'd come to the end of the tunnle. Ahead of them was a dark chamber. It was hard to tell its size; this deep in the tunnle the light from the breech in the previous chamber's wall didn't help much.
"What I wouldn't give for some glowmoss," Keleero said in an attempt at humor.
OOC: We now have a map of the mountain in the map thread! Check it out to see what the mountain looks like after the timejump. Right now there's no "halfmoon" in the room ahead and no evergreen branches of course (Keleero snd the others sleeping inside see to that later). What there is currently is a cave-in of the far wall, like a tunnle has collapsed. Feel free to have your elf find that while they explore.

OOC: It would be nice to wrap this up. We can either continue playing or simply agree on what they found. What do you think, Juniper and Sunset?

OOC: I'm fine with agreeing. Too much back and forth between the Now and 4 days ago, my minds getting muddled.
