Tribe name: Steepside Mountain
Leadership: Lead by a Lord who usually keeps a council of advisors.
Type of elves: Pureblooded elves only.
Soul Names: All elves in Steepside Mountain have soul names (at least all now living elves; they developed them generations ago). Each elf here knows their soul name from birth.
Random Info: The Steepside elves have not invented tattoos.
Recognition: It used to be Recognitions were a happy occassion that often, but not always, lead to lifemating. Since the reign of Elyro, however, Recogition has become a curse, exposing your soul name to a total stranger and forcing you to bring life into a cruel world. As there hasn't been much time since Elyro's fall, this is still the prevalent attitude to Recognition among the Steepside elves - especially as anyone could still be loyal to Elyro. There was also another side to Recognition; Lord Elyro encouraged his people to have as many children as possible, so while Recognition tied to you to a possible enemy, it also put you in Elyro's good graces, for a time. A double-edged sword. For this reason, many sought the healers' aid in getting pregnant outside of Recognition, which Elyro also encouraged.
Location: In this world (though our elves don't know that yet), in a temperate zone near a large-ish human civilization. The mountain itself is, as its name tells you, very steep. In fact, millenia of rock-shaping has made it impossible to climb from the outside and no entrances can be found at ground level. Only the gigant eagels that the elves live side by side, or those elves who can glide, can get high enought to enter and exit the mountain.
Culture: All Steepside Mountain elves know how to send to other elves and most of them are Gliders. There used to be a lot of them, near the point of overpopulation as they lived very safe lives, with only the occassional hunting accident or daredevil stunt costing elves lives. However, about two thousand years ago the line of Lords was broken by the murder of Lord Katrane during a hunt. A murder executed by humans. War threatened between the two species, until Elyro stepped up and took the role as Lord. He made 'peace' with the humans by offering a sacrifice of an elf every twenty years, which appeased the humans somewhat (and this sacrificing was negotiated and changed until the humans thought there were no elves left - some even began to think of the elves a fairy tales). Lord Elyro turned out to be a cruel leader who ruled for near three millenia, until he was overthrown by the current Lord Hela, who'd managed to rally supporters among those not brainwashed by Elyro's mad ideas of 'survival of the fittest'. Elyro, too old and powerful to simply be killed safely, has since then been locked up. The Steepside elves have been doing their best to forget about the torture that was his reign. But he still has followers...
Events: Last heard from the current Lord Hela had reigned for ten years without threat, the humans had not been heard from and the former Lord Elyro was locked up in a cage for his crimes against his fellow elves.
Known members: Ashre, Dakran, Elyro, Hela, Hamitee, Keleero, Ramora
Can other players make elves from this tribe to bring to Beacon Call? Yes! PM me if you're interested or (for people who're not yet members) post here.
