I really should get back to the human discussion soon (sorry for the delay!) but I just relazied we should establish the local trolls too, as they're just as close as the humans + have set traps every which way in the forest!
So, what do we want our local trolls to be like? I'd love for them to be a little more democratic and having a more explained culture than the canon trolls; that gives more chanse for them having fun characters than the canon 'mean and greedy' characterization.

Okay, so I've been quite inspired by the River Twine trolls and while I absolutely don't want to rip them off, the River Twine trolls have inspired me to want to make our Holt's trolls more than stock character "greedy trouble makers who sometimes kidnap Rock-Shapers". My suggestions are therefore: - This world's Palace didn't crash because of a troll revolt. You of course get to decide what happened on your own elves' home worlds, but in this world the Palace crashed because of something else. What? Well we don't have to set that in stone now, but perhaps because of an external force? A meteor collision? The anti-magic aura of the planet messing with its steering mechanism and having it materialize inside Beacon Call Mountain, thus creating the huge explosion that caused all the bad magic in this area? (Of course, some High Ones, trolls and preservers were teleported away before the Palace went nova). Any suggestions?
- Trolls with other personalities and goals other than "not very bright creatures trying to get rich". The trolls in canon have developed beyond that, but we've not gotten to see too much of said development, only hits. The trolls are more or less comic relief, and while I'm not oppost to humor I think the trolls would be more interesting if they could be more than sometimes-threat, sometimes-comedy.
- Internal conflict among the trolls. Maybe their last leader just died? Maybe the person in charge right now is a horrible dictator who took charge by force? Maybe they're the reason conflict arises between our elves and the trolls, which may lead to troll rebels seeking out our elves' support as allies, with promises of trade in the future?
I definitely think we should get the "Vareesi is gone", "local humans", "settling in" part of the game before we involve the trolls, but is "internal conflict among the trolls" an interesting way to go with the Holt, do you think?

This thread is also old, soooo, what are our current options of trolls near the holt?
