Tambri's anger did unsettle Mahrak, but he took a deep breath and forced his own unease aside. He shouldn't stoop to her level. In his opinion, she was being eaten alive by fear and he had no plans on joining her in that.
To battle his own anxiety, he leaned into more bravado. **So first I'm not afraid enough and now I'm too afraid of a growling wolf and an elf who's actually struck me? You are so very strange.** He sent openly, though clearly addressing Tambri. Seeing No-Sting step between them, he let more tension leave him, less cornered. **And funny, if in a twisted way. You really think I'll just run off into the woods and hug the first humans I run into, because I won't take your 'sage' advice of pissing myself the moment I see one? No, I'll find another elf who knows of humans and listen to them instead. I'm sure there are teachers around her who don't beat their students.**
Mahrak kept his eyes on Tambri's back as she turned and walked away. He wouldn't be able to fully relax until she was out of his sight. Maybe then he could think rationally about all of this, feel sorrow for her loss and her fear instead of be wary of what that fear would make her do. **Good to know who'll leave me to die if things go wrong. I thank you for your honesty. Remind me not to go hunting with you again.**
~**That's a relief,**~ he replied to No-Sting's lock-sending. ~**And I agree, we've been far from stealthy. We've seen no signs of humans yet, so I doubt they'll come stumbling upon the holt. I'll cover our tracks as we return, just to be safe.**~ That would also give him an excuse to keep well behind the other two and the wolf.
