"If you want to, I'm sure No-Sting will teach you too," Choice said. "We have quite a lot of trees around here." He was then lost in Eryk's explanations of how skis and snowshoes worked. It sounded, at least to Choice, rather complicated, at least in how careful you needed to be in making them. Just taking any old pieces of wood and strapping them to your feet wouldn't do, and he himself had no idea what would constitute "right" wood, seeing as the words had been spoken and not sent. Then again, with how different the trees were around here, and how different from his own birth place Eryk's sounded, he doubted he would have understood even with sending.
"That sounds amazing," Choice said once Eryk was done explaining. "I think everyone would be very grateful and happy if you started making skis and snowshoes." And it would be a good distraction from intrusive thoughts... Choice didn't know Eryk, but he could recognize kindred pain in his eyes. "We have a treeshaper who could help you find the right wood, I think. He knew about snow before coming here, I think, so he might know things about skis and snowshoes too. And No-Sting and Swift-Wind come from a cold place too. So do Jaseio and Edgerunner, I think." He trailed off, not sure what to say next other than, "Would you like me to introduce you to some of the other elves here? Try and find someone who can help you get started? Or would you rather rest?"

Eryk was lost in his thoughts for a little while, allowing Choice's words to wash over him, barely registering the meaning behind them. With a complete list of things he would need to make, he finally shook out of his thoughts. "Oh, a treeshaper?" he asked, "I think I can manage without one just fine. My tribe did not have much magic users, so..." Eryk shrugged a little, "I will have to make do with my tools." The grey-haired lad patted the cleaned ax on his side, like it was his most trusted companion at the very moment.
"Meeting and greeting others sounds like a good idea, but maybe for later." he then said, "You understand it has been a little hectic and I'd rather rest for now." The worst ache in his heart had dulled down, and the tired apathy was covering the ache little by little.

"Oh, I see," Choice was quick to answer as Eryk rejected the offer of talking to Juniper. While Choice himself found magic wonderous, he'd learned from his days in Beacon Call that not all elves shared his love of magic. Swift-Wind, for example, seemed as excited as he to watch magic users show their skills, but he'd noted how uncomfortable her sister No-Sting appeared to be with such things. Even magic users themselves, like Keleero, didn't always seem comfortable showing their skills.
Glad for a change of subject, in case the topic of magic was a painful one, Choice was quick to say: "I understand your arrival was rather a dizzying thing. Did you really kill a large cat before you came here?" He didn't ask after the other newcomer - from what he'd heard the others discuss the two new ones didn't know each other and the cat-like one didn't even speak the same way elves tended to do. Better not think on that now...
OOC: Since we have two threads going with the same elves in it, and since we're not quite sure what happens in the Beacon Room with SL2657F, should we wrap this up and concentrate on the thread 14 days in the future?

OoC: Works for me.

"Yeah, I did kill it. The blasted thing attacked me on my way to check a race course.", Eryk explained. He was not known for hunting back in his original tribe, but he took some pride of killing the snow cat -- even if it had lunged them both to their doom.
"I might taken hunting on, especially if this lot is lacking hunters.", he then said, soon falling back to thoughts. Eryk had, after all, a lot to think about and to plan.

Choice managed to stop himself before he could ask what kind of 'race course' Eryk had been working on. Having long gone without the contact of other elves, other than the occasional unpleasant encounter, Choice wasn't the best at reading others' thoughts from expressions - but the way Eryk's silences grew longer and longer made even him aware of their situation.
"Another hunter among us would be greatly appreaciated," Choice simply said and got up off the ground. "I should go see to my bond-friend and his mate. I know this...change is much to take in all at once. Should you wish to talk more, later, I am a willing listener."

OOC: Reading this thread as wrapped, so I'm locking and archiving it. Let me know if I should unlock it for some final posts!
