OoC: This is happening partially at the same time as the New Arrival(s). Tag No-Sting~*~ Badger had fetched a water skin to be filled at the hot springs. She was deep in thought about the newcomer, still feeling worried. The wolfrider sighed a little, and noticed she had forgotten to look for anything like a cloth, so that the newcomer could wash his wounds. Same with the thread and needle -- but the wolfrider maiden was somewhat sure there was nothing like that available. She was feeling slightly annoyed that Juniper was not available to help, but then she reminded herself that it was not possible for the treeshaper to be on call all day and all night. Besides, Badger chided herself, the treeshaper was out to look for something to soothe Choice. It was irrational of her to expect he would have been around the cave all the time.

With Keleero finally having left the hot springs, No-Sting had taken the opportunity to sneak into their cave. It wasn't that she outright disliked the tall, flying elf, but he did unsettle her and she seemed to unsettle him. Best for all involved that she enjoy the warmth of the hot springs when he wasn't arround them.
No-Sting didn't intend to take a bath. She had no wish to get herself soaked as long as there was snow outside and no way to get dry quickly. But the temperature in the cave was very pleasant, so just sitting close to the water was pleasant enough. This was what she and Oddspot were doing when No-Sting caught the sound of steps coming up the tunnel from the Sleeping Cave.
**Badger, is that you?** she open-sent to the person walking closer and closer to the hot springs cave, thinking she recognized whose feet were making the noise.

She was so deep in thought, that the sending startled her lightly. "Oh!" the wolfrider gasped, but soon regained her composure. Badger took a deep breath and waved a greeting to her friend, when she saw the tuft-eared maiden.
"Nice to see you, No-Sting!" she said, smiling. Since the disappearances, the wolfrider had been worried of making friends -- in case if anyone would just vanish in thin air. "I am just fetching water..." she then said, and shook the empty skin. "There was a new arrival, he is injured."

"I'm sorry if I startled you," No-Sting said, knowing her smile had to look sheepish. "I was just enjoying the warmth in here. Not much on offer out in the snow."
She frowned at the news of a newcomer. "Injured you say. Has any of the healers been called?" She knew it for the stupid question it was the moment it left her lips. Of course Badger would have known to call the healers! She wasn't some irresponsible cub. "Eh, I mean, have they arrived to tend to the newcomer yet? How's he handling the...change?"

Badger chewed her lower lip. "Reefshadow got there before me." she then told No-Sting, "And we asked, if we could call a healer, but..." The wolfrider paused for a little while, as she came to the room properly and knelt to fill the empty skin. "...He refused magical aid, for whatever reason." she then ended the sentences, her wonder and perplexity clear on her words and face.
"He did not seem too strange, I think. About my height, not ... um ..." there was another pause as she tried to think of a proper word, "Not brightly coloured, if you get what I mean. Not like Reefshadow or Swish. He had a wildcat with him, but I think it was indeed wild and not a bond."

~**We seem to have yet another newcomer, Badger,**~ Keleero found himself enough to lock-send after his first sending. ~**Better bring enough hot water and medicine for two. This one looks to have been through a lot.**~

No-Sting could think of one or two reasons to not want a magical healer touching you. She herself wasn't fully comfortable with it, despite doing her best to hide it. Magic was unpredicable and prone to...go bad, after all. She found herself thinking she was glad Badger had shown no signs of possessing magic; and then felt ashamed. Swift-Wind's "gift", as their mother and only their mother had put it, had always been a source of inner conflict for No-Sting. An inner conflict she'd rather keep inner, thank you very much.
"We should go help Reefshadow then," No-Sting said, trying to distract herself from her own thoughts. "Can't be fun or easy taking care of a newcomer alone. Especially not an injured one. Did the stranger seem used to 'brightly colored' people?" Otherwise they might have double trouble on their hands if Reefshadow's appearance further unsettled the stranger. It was bad enough to have to go through the whole 'you're not in your holt anymore'-routine without having to easy a new elf into understanding just how different other elves could be.
And there I go throwing rocks at snow-heavy trees again...

"I would not say he seemed used to the brightly-coloured elves." Badger said, then paused briefly and turned her head to listen what Keleero had to say in his sending. Another newcomer? The wolfrider frowned lightly, and replied in locked sending.
~**There is not much medical equipment to go in the first place. Ask the new-- er, newer new elf, if they would let a healer aid them.**~ Badger told Keleero, then getting up from the bank of the spring and closing the water skin quickly. "It seems like there is another stranger appeared..." she said out loud to No-Sting. Returning to the old subject of the newcomer she had briefly met, Badger said: "The elf with a wildcat seemed shocked, but not that violent... Although you are right on the hurrying."
The wolfrider thought about taking No-Sting's hand, and blushed at the thought lightly. To distract herself, she asked, "Would you be skilled with closing wounds with needle and thread?"

~**Newest arrival doesn't seem too...happy to be here,**~ Keleero finally managed to answer Badger, sending images of how the stranger was aiming the foreign weapon at him, Eryk and Reefshadow, as well as the strange, human-sounding words she'd spoken. ~**Maybe it'd be best if you kept to the hot springs for a moment longer. And maybe find one of the healers. In case things go badly.**~

Two strangers. Well, most of the elves in the Holt had appeared together with other people, so maybe more than one newcomer at a time should be expected. Hopefully more than one newcomer on their hands would mean Reefshadow could give the "you're far away from home"-speech only once; No-Sting didn't envy him that burden, not having realized yet that Badger was sending to Keleero and not Reefshadow.
"Shocked is perfectly understandable," No-Sting said to Badger when she'd finished speaking. "Let's hope the newest arrival is the same way - not violent I mean." No-Sting had kept wishing that any new arrivals would be like Choice; happy to be there and not wherever they had come from. Too bad the poor elf had lost his soulmate so soon after coming here - his cheer had been a nice change from everyone else's grief and loss; her own included.
Pushing aside such thoughts, No-Sting went on to answer Badger's question: "I'm no healer, so I can't make pretty stitches, but I've sewn up a leg injury once or twice when I've been alone on a long hunt. You?" She fought to keep their conversation casual, despite how strange the situation actually was - elves appearing out of thin air shouldnt' become a part of everyday life! - and despite how pretty No-Sting thought Badger was. This clearly wasn't the time or place for any kind of flirting.

Badger frowned lightly, when Keleero sent once again. It seemed like the situation was ready to blow up to a storm of tooth and claw -- so she sent to the glider an affirmation of stalling a little. "Now Keleero sends more about the new person." she said, being honest, "New person is apparently shaking some sort of a weapon, so we should stick here for a moment longer." Badger felt a little torn about it. At the same time she was glad, but at the same time she was slightly vexed. She was not a precious little flower to be protected and coddled -- but the wolfrider also realized she was not a fighter either.
"I am not that skilled in healing..." she then sighed. "My knowledge extends to washing wounds and maybe chewing some herbs that aid fever or pain."

These news from Badger had No-Sting reeling. Keleero was with Reefshadow? Well, that was the lesser of the surprises. An elf threatening other elves with a weapon, that was something one should not take lightly!
"Wait here?" No-Sting said to Badger, clearly baffled by the very idea. Lynx-blooded elves might not have the insticts of pack animals, but the idea of leaving elves she'd come to know at the mercy of an aggressor - even another elf - was unthinkable to her. "What is Keleero thinking?! We must go aid them!"
She hesitated though. As urged as she was to go to Keleero and Reefshadw's aid, the fact that Badger wasn't leading the way toward the Beacon Room gave her pause. She didn't want to leave Badger behind. "...or do you think it's wisest to stay here? Isn't it better if we go face the danger together? It's easier to hurt people when they're in small groups." She couldn't imagine an elf killing another elf, but she could imagine a panicked and grieving elf injuring those around them - especially if the new arrival had magic.

"Well, what would you use in defense?" She said, tilting her head lightly, when No-Sting wondered about if they should go help the others or not. "Keleero did share an image of the weapon, but it looks foreign to me." Badger added, sharing on the image to No-Sting. Badger, for one, was not happy about the idea of unknown dangers and threats. She had no idea if the newer newcomer's weapon was long-range weapon, short-ranged or what.
"I, uhhh... "she mumbled and hesitated by the corridor's entrance, then leaning on the wall. The wolfrider was not too happy to admit she was soft and coward at her heart.

No-Sting hesitated. The weapon Badger showed her in sending looked like nothing she'd ever seen before - not even among troll made weapons. No-Sting had her dagger at hand, but would that be enough against whatever that was?
She picked up on Badger's unease, but assumed its source was the same as hers. No-Sting had never felt comfortable with being idle, especially not when her kin was at risk. The elves of Beacon Call Holt - as she and a few others had begun to name this place - might not be her bloodkin, but they were elves and they were all relying on each other to stay alive. So she'd help protect all from any thread; even one as unthinkable as an elf.
That personal reminder made No-Sting relax. The newcomer was an elf, no matter how stranger their appearance could prove to be. Only those overtaken by rotten magic would ever harm another badly. Having more elves rush in and try to explain things would probably just make the newcomer harder to calm down.
Heaving a sigh, No-Sting patted the dagger at her belt and gave Badger a sheepish smile. "You're right. It's not like the newcomer would harm anyone seriously. I'm sure they'll get things cleared up in no time, and then we can go out and tend to the wounded. Best as we can." Her mother, Wit, had always told her not to make more trouble than was needed. Maybe she'd gotten old enough to listen to such advice. "Though it might get awful dull to stand around and talk to me while they things sorted."
Had Badger been one of No-Sting's old tribemates, she might have followed the end of that sentence with a wink and a meaningful look at the warm pool of water behind them. Enjoying a roll in the furs, with or without furs, had always been a lovely way to pass the time. But now No-Sting instead found herself trying to look everywhere but at Badger, in case the way her thoughts had strayed would be too obvious in her eyes.
It was so strange and difficult, trying to act normal around people you hadn't known all your life! Before coming to Beacon Call, the only new elves No-Sting had ever met were newborn kits, which didn't really count. They you could get to know as they grew. Interacting with a fully grown elf you'd only known for four hands of days was all but impossible! As pleasant company as Badger was, No-Sting half the time felt she had no idea what to say to her, in case she came off as too forward or too strange.

"I suppose the newcomer is just ... you know, scared." Badger then said, eager to believe in the good nature of others. "Just like you and me and any of us." She leaned on the wall and tied the filled water skin on her belt to free her hands. "Hopefully Keleero and the rest just can calm them down. The other newcomer, the grey-hair, seemed shocked, but not too dangerous." This reminded Badger that the other newcomer had asked for the water and other supplies -- now the wolfrider could only hope the grey-hair was not bleeding to death.
When No-Sting suggested, just standing and talking there to her might get dull, Badger smiled a little. "Oh no, not at all!" she replied, "I find your company enjoyable!" The wolfrider beamed at the tuft-eared maiden, although the tuft-ear was now looking at everything else but the wolfrider. Badger noticed the look, and it made her feel a little awkward -- maybe No-Sting did not feel the same way about her?
