OoC: I have no idea of the timestamps. If an admin can help me out, if would be nice. I suppose this is also day 15, happening in the same time as Inspecting the Sleeping Forest. ~*~ Finally, Badger and others had managed to get enough furry critters caught and cured for the leather and fur, and the wolfrider was able to approach Jaseio with a request of new winter leathers. The wolfrider did not know the strange elf too well, but shyness had to be pushed aside, because Badger had realized she would eventually freeze solid outside. It seemed like the winter would last long, and she could not always be on the move to keep herself warm. One needed to be still when fishing and so on. Now that they had the raw material, they only needed Badger's measurements and Jaseio's skillful hands would do the rest.

Jaseio had been working more hides in a shorter time than ever before. Most were small, but it was still a lot of work and finally enough had been processed to make winterclothes. Sunset, Choice, and the purple elfling, Swish, had been clothed. Jaseio had let the Pip borrow some of her winter furs, though they were a bit big on him, but some straps of leather to tie it in, made sure he stayed warm. She hadn't needed it since she would be working on clothes for others most of the time anyway.
Jaseio sat beside a small pile of tanned ravvit hides. The fur was soft and fluffy, the leather supple and pleasant on the skin. She loved to work the hides, but as soon as all immediate needs of any leather were met she just wanted a bit of a break. But that wasn't for now. As she sat there trying to figure out how to best use the furs for gloves or other clothes, she tried to think of who still needed it. It was quite hard to remember who needed and who didn't.
She remembered that Badger had mentioned she would like some winter leathers. ~*Badger? Would you have time for me measuring your winter leathers now?*~ Jaseio locksent to the elf, as she didn't know where she was. Jasieo didn't feel comfortable with sitting in the Beacon Room with the large crystal, so she had situated herself in the Sleeping Chamber were she worked quietly.

Jaseio's sending woke the wolfrider up from a slight catnap she had been taking. For a while, the brunette had a tough time figuring out the time and place, but soon the hazy dreams were chased away. ~*Sure, I'll be soon by your side.*~ She replied in private, as she rubbed her eyes and stretched a little. Badger was not much of an indoors elf, so there was not much she knew what to do indoors.
Lightly yawning, she walked to the main sleeping chamber -- Badger had decided a napping place in a more calm corner in another cave had been better. She greeted Jaseio with a wave of her hand. "I don't need much... Maybe an overcoat or cloak..." she then explained, "maybe mittens or gloves, a fur cap and proper boots." Badger had thought these items would cover her enough and should the spring come, she could then just peel the fur clothing off and be in her normal clothes again.

Jaseio nodded in greeting with a smile playing on her lips. "I'll see what I can make for you." She said, voice low so as not to wake the sleeping elves. She turned her upperbody around to rummage in a pile of furs behind her. "I might have some mittens for you already," she turned back to Badger with a pair of mittens that looked to be of a fitting size, "They might be a bit rough in the seams since they are one of the first I made here, but they should do their task adequately." After handing the mittens over, she grabbed one of the larger ravvit-furs. "I might have enough to make you a small coat with a hood and pair of boots." She rose up from her seated position and stretched the fur to it's full length between her hands. "Or maybe not. I might have to use your boots, give them some fur or something. I'll make your coat first and see how much is left for your boots. I should have enough for everything." She gave an apologetic smile to Badger as she shrugged her shoulders.

Badger nodded when Jaseio explained the clothing options. There was, of course, some other elves who also needed proper protection from the cold, harsh winter, but Badger suspected she would be of use the most, if she had proper attire for outings. "I hope the hunters bring in soon something bigger than that." she commented, when she looked at the pile of rabbit furs. "I can try to hunt something myself, if I get to at least borrow something."
The wolfrider tried the mittens on. As said, they were a little rough on the seams, but Badger thought she could live with that. For now.

"Yes, it would be wonderful to have some bigger furs to work with, but most of what we had or got of large furs has been used as sleeping furs, especially for those who sleep outside the caves." She shook her head in disbelief that anyone could choose to sleep outside in all that cold weather. Did they know how to make snow shelters? If they didn't maybe she should teach them how? That might have been something that could have been useful earlier, she just hadn't thought of it while being busy with all the tanning and leather working. "I could use all the fur I could get my hands on for either more winter clothes or other things. If you should acquire anything, no matter how small, I will gladly tan it, anything can be used for something." She smiled kindly to Badger. Jaseio sat down again fiddling with her new bone needle and newly made string getting ready to sew. She used her sharp knife for cutting as little of the rough edges off of the first skin as possible to make it into a useful square. She repeated the same for the next but the third she cut down the middle lengthwise. "You mostly fish though, right?" She tried to keep a friendly conversation going in low tones since it was nice working while having some company.

Badger nodded a little and smiled -- then explained, "Yes, I prefer to fish. It is something that can also be done alone. Although almost all of my tr-- well, old tribe can hunt, and were required to join on hunts." Now, how many hunters they actually had in this ragtag group? She knew how to hunt, Juniper ... probably? With Slinker, Nettle and Tinder gone -- despite how she did not like them -- the hunts were going to be harder.
"How many hunters do we have?" she asked out loud. Badger had been a little shy to make friends, but maybe Jaseio had been luckier. "Juniper spends the majority of his energy to shape trees."

"That... That's a good question..." She let it weigh in her mind before answering, "I actually don't know. After the disappearances we lost a good deal of hunters." She started sewing the furpieces together, in the lull of her answer, "I can hunt but I am mostly occupied otherwise. I know that we have a handful of others that can hunt still. How well I know not exactly." She shrugged and looked closer at her stitching, it had gotten substantially better. She gave a satisfied hum at her accomplishments.
"I wouldn't mind to go out and hunt if I found the time but I seem to have come to like this part of the craft. If you ever need anything made and I have the materials just ask, though I think I will stick to making things of leather."

Badger settled in the room -- she might as well keep Jaseio company and be available if the tanner needed to take measures or something. "We might have a bundle of elves who know HOW to hunt, but no experts." she pondered, "It might make lives difficult... Although, with elves popping in and out, maybe we get someone who is an experienced hunter." The wolfrider stretched a little, then continued, "When I get proper winter leathers, I will make sure to bring in some proper game."
That was more talk than actions. She was always keen to promise things, but not sure how to execute that promise.

She looked up from her work to give Badger a warm smile, "Any game you could bring would be a bounty and soon you will be dressed to brave the cold for longer times," Jaseio took a moment to check up on a stitch she had misjudged. She decided to re-do it and pulled the needle off the sinew-thread and picked the thread. "Yes, it certainly is tough here. The thought that it might get worse makes me shudder and it seems with the hunters we lost we got more that can not hunt.” She sighed, re-threaded the needle and made a handful of stitches in silence and wondered to herself how she could keep the talk going or if she even should keep talking.
But what else would she do? At some point she would have to get to know these elves, even though it made her uncomfortable to have to open up. Jaseio wasn’t going anywhere else and if she could go back she would gladly do so but she couldn't so that wasn't up for thought.
“Have you... settled well here?” She asked the other elf and broke from her work for a short moment before going back to it.

Badger had fallen silent and pondered about the thing that Jaseio had said, the one about losing hunters and getting elves that were not able to hunt. It was a tough situation, the wolfrider knew, but she hoped -- maybe -- the natural born hunters and crafters could teach others, who did not know how to hunt or do things. With this idea in her mind, Badger realized she was only good in about one or two things. So therefore, she scooted a little closer to Jaseio to see what she did with the needle and sinew, and how the tanner did it. The idea someone else might disappear tomorrow or day after was a little worrisome to the brunette.
"I ... Uh, I would not calling it settling." Badger then admitted, when Jaseio asked about settling. "I could say I am more like ... adapting to the situation. It is harsh, I lost my tribe behind and I have a little hard time getting to know folks here." Hard time, she said, although this one certain tuft-eared maiden popped in her mind -- No-Sting was not hard to get to know, the wolfrider had to admit it to herself. "And you, uh, have you settled, or adapted more like?"

She stopped in the middle of a stitch and looked up. She hadn't thought of the fact that the same question could be turned on her.
"I, er.... I wouldn't say I have settled either, or adapted, it's... it's more like I just try to handle it. I have at least had all of this work to keep me going. I miss my family a lot, and it's very odd not to be surrounded by horses. I also find I have a hard time with trying to be social here," She swallowed and returned to her sewing. "But I guess you can say I have adapted in a way," She lifted the hides showing the jacket she was stitching together, "I am learning to make clothes. I never did that before I just prepared the hides. And… and all these different elves that you’ve only just met, having to figure out how to make all this work, and now we don’t even know if we’ll have to stay here or disappear from this place, like Nettle, Slinker and Tinder.”
Jaseio felt like she was rambling: As if a fire-mountain had erupted inside her and she just couldn’t stop the stream of words. She stared at her hands that had stopped working, and continued, “Or even what would happen if we were to disappear like them.” For a couple of heartbeats she just stared and did nothing, then she started sewing again.
“But maybe we should talk about something else? Hmm… You said you had a hard time getting to know folks here, and I feel the same way so maybe we should just get to know each other as a solution?” Jaseio asked the brunette, voice tinged with a gentle laugh and lips with a gentle smile.

Badger sincerely hoped they would not have to disappear. She disliked the idea that she would have to build a new life here and be ripped away from it any moment. The wolfrider mused on the thought with a soft "hmmmmmmm" noise, but did not voice out her concerns. Badger would only have to trust she would be here still on the next day. The brunette agreed on the change of the subject, but she was a shy secretive personality. What would she tell to the other maiden?
"Well, what would you like to know?" she then asked with a bit of a smile, "My likes, maybe? I like to eat strawberries, swimming and naps with Trotter -- he's my bonded wolf." She gestured Jaseio to continue, to tell something about herself, so that the wolfrider would not be yapping on about herself only.

"Likes are a good place to start," She nodded, thought for a moment then answered with her own likes, "I guess my likes would bathing in the hot springs, grooming the horses, the wind in my hair while galloping, and last but not least the smell of leather." Satisfied with her own answer she focused on a couple of stitches, wondering what she could talk with the brunette about. “Uhm… I’m curious about these wolves -- like your bond. They seem very affectionate, but also ferocious. I had never before seen anything like them that is of course if you don’t count foxes,” her voice was tinted with how perplexed she was by some of these new creatures, “I had never thought to meet meat-eaters so large except for humans and elves. Could you explain to me what sort of creatures these wolves are?” Finally she had gotten to ask one of the elves with a bonded wolf about these strange new creatures. She had looked up from her work finding that she could now keep her attention more easily on both her work and the conversation while only keeping half an eye on her work.

OoC: Edited for story-forwarding purposes. ~*~ For a good while, Badger was silent. Something SO familiar to her, it was still difficult to explain it to the stranger. "Well... I could send you something, if you want to learn more." she then said, a little hesitantly. Explaining about wolves in words, it was difficult to her. Badger continued to open a sending link with Jaseio and shared what she knew about wolves. She sent the images of the beasts living in a pack with a certain hierarchy and certain ways to shift that hierarchy. She shared of the hunts, the howls. Wolf's life was short, but oh how it was glorious! She stopped the sending and smiled a little. "It is not that easy to explain in sending either." she said out loud, apologetic smile on her face. "How about your tribe and family, what are they like? I have seen the beasts you ride, and they seem so ..." well, there was no word the wolfrider could think of. 'Awe-inspiring' was the closest one, but she did not say it out loud. Badger looked around, then touching Jaseio 's hand. "I am thinking we should continue this discussion in the hot springs or something."
