The concept of a "hot spring" echoed through Choice's head, leaving him dizzy. Hot water from underground? Underground springs were one thing, he'd heard of those, but a huge fire inside the earth that warmed it all? He had a hard time wrapping his mind around that.
Keleero's question about what kind of hot springs they were used to back home had Choice averting his eyes to the floor. He felt stupid and silly, not knowing how to answer that question. But he didn't want to stay quiet and useless either.
"H-have all of you had hot springs were you grew up?" he decided to ask the room as a whole, glancing at each elf in turn to garner their reaction.

"We did", said Nettle. She had followed the sends and voices, ears keen especially for Choice. She smiled when she saw him, eyes crinkling at the corners, cheeks dimpling. She had become quite fond of him in so short a time. Their recognition, easing the way, she knew for them to form the foundations of a relationship.
She came bearing a bowl of food, simple meat in a broth, with a side of greens. She wasn't hungry herself, but she knew that Tinder would appreciate her giving the food to Keleero. "I would feed you my dear one, but Tinder wanted our rockshaper to eat first. He's been wonderfully busy. Working the stone, while Tinder minds the cooking".
Nettle nuzzled Choice's cheek as she stepped past him and walked to Keleero.
"Greetings, Elder", she said to him. A simple nod, and she offered him the bowl. "Tinder thought you'd be hungry. Here. It's simple fare, but should fill your stomach well enough".
Nettle smiled at Panaetha, Sunset, and the others.
"I'm helping Tinder weave things and tend the cooking fire. She's roughed out some basic things like bowls and such from the clay in the holt. It's baking now. There's stew cooking for anyone who's hungry and meat set aside with some of the uncooked greens for those with a preference for raw meat".
OOC: Just a quick reply... I probably won't make many more. RL has been kinda hectic this week.

"Wave! Get in the basket!" Swish hissed worriedly at his sister. When she had crawled inside, he put on the lid, and shushed at her. Frantically he looked around for a place to hide himself, and seeing no hidingspots he could use, he went through the partition to the frontroom of the small cave dwelling.
Swish froze mid-movement as one of the big attackers spotted him. Swish heard his mother shout, and she rushed in front of the wide cave entrance, just as she tried to block Swish from view the human raised his weird looking weapon, and aimed it at the female.
Right after Swish heard a loud bang, his mother fell over, and she looked at her pip as the life left her eyes. As his tears started falling the world around him disappeared, and just as quickly he found himself in a foreign cave. Overwhelmed with fear he fell on his bum and scrambled backwards until he found himself in a different room. He turned around but what he found didn't calm him down. A scream tore from his lungs, he didn't know what was going on anymore. The room was full of weird beings that in a way resembled the elves he knew but they looked weird. "Mother?! What did you do to my mother?" He bawled on and again scrambled backwards. When he hit a wall in the room he drew his knees up, hugged them, snifling and sobbing into them.

Following the conversation, Jaseio nodded when Nettle confirmed for her own tribe. When she had offered everyone food, Jasieo said to Choice and Keleero, "Were I come from we had many hot springs, though they were all outdoors. It was nice bathing under the open sky, I miss it a bit."
Afterwards she turned her attention to the room with a slight smile. She was tired, but with all the excitement she couldn't go to sleep again, even if she dearly wanted.
Suddenly different sounds came from the Beacon Room, and Jaseio looked to the opening that went there, and there was a weirdly coloured, scarcely clad elfling scrambling through the opening. He seemed very distraught, even more so when he turned around. Jaseio had been shocked to a stand still, not only by his weird colours, it seems like he has been thoroughly dyed, but also his reaction. He seemed so, so... She didn't know how to describe what it looked like he was feeling. It was almost as if he thought them all dangerous. She had herself been very distraught with being brought here, but not in the way this boy was.
She didn't dare do anything in case it would just make him even more uncomfortable, and so she was stuck at a standstill, unable to even utter a word.
Her thoughts though were every where: Why was he calling for his mother? Did something happen to her? Or him? Was that why he was so distraught? Why was he so colourful? It was a bit like the tall Reefshadow, but just more. Was he freezing? It must be cold for him. How old was he? He seemed so young almost like a child, but she knew she couldn't count on size, since so many of the elves here where small, but had been seen as adults in their homeplace, and were adults by all means.

Keleero nearly jumped out of his skin at the appearance of the tiny, crying and very colorful newcomer. Caught in shock he couldn't form words to ask any of the others to tend to the stranger. Keleero saw no point in trying to say calming words - he'd never had a talent for it. Exhaustion didn't exactly improve his skills either. Therefore he remained seated where he was, staring dumbly at the tiny stranger.

Caught up in the talk of hot springs and in Jaseio's description of how there had been some at her old home, Choice was as taken by surprise as the others. But the sorrow in the stranger's voice struck a cord within him.
Without thinking, Choice hurried over to the stranger and knelt by his side. Arms spread to offer a hug, but keeping a respectful distance, Choice siad: "Sssh, sssh, little one." He'd automatically categorizing the newcomer as a child based on his cries for his mother. "I don't know where your mother is, but you are safe here. Please calm yourself and tell us what has happened to you."

Swish jerked his head up when the darkest of the strange elves talked to him. He flinched away a bit as he realised how close the other elf was, but he seemed gentle enough in Swish's eyes. The size of the other was a considerable reason for that, as the difference in it wasn't substantial between them. The pip was had calmed enough to answer the questions, though he was still sniffling, "L-large round-ears came... They had weird things that made loud noises, and h-hurt us. I-," his breath hitched, "I hid Wave! A-and I tried to hide! But they saw me! They hurt mother!" Then he started crying into his knees again, though a bit more calmly. "You- you won't hurt me?" He asked after a moment as he looked up at the almost black elf with innocent fear in his eyes.

Reefshadow grumbled, finally rolling over and opening his eyes. Why do they all insist on being night creatures? And loud ones at that... As his vision cleared, he saw the small elf cowering by Choice. His eyes widened slightly. High Ones, he's like me. But I've never seen him before, he can't be from home. He sat up, listening with sudden concern, not taking his eyes off of Swish. "Of course we won't hurt you." Realizing he sounded a little harsh, he followed with, "You're safe here, pip. Are you hurt?"

Sunset's brow furrowed a bit, but she kept her distance, standing by the glider. She didn't want to crowd the young, brightly colored elf; he looked afraid enough as it was.

**We'll not hurt you,** Panaetha sent gently, looking over Choice's shoulder. The two might be of similar hue, but she was much taller than he was, and she didn't want to scare the little kitling anymore than he already was. **Round-ears came for you...with strange weapons. They are gone now...you are safe. You said they hurt your mother...did they hurt you as well? I can ease any pain you might have.** The glider did her best to avoid asking where his mother and this "Wave" character he spoke of were; most likely, the same force that brought him to these caves chose to leave the other two behind. The mention of "round ears" troubled her as well...she was unsure what creatures he was referring to, but could they be brought as well? The last thing they needed was for violent folk to pop in on them.

Mindlight wandered back out of the tunnel the tall one had made, and she paused briefly to look into the sleeping chamber. Her fair brows rose slightly at the sight of the strangely colored elf. With a sigh, she shook her red curls out of her eyes. That's a mess I want no part of. It was strange, actually. She had no personal responsibility here...and she was beginning to think she liked it. She moved away and down the tunnel.

He looked to were the harsh voice came from, and what he saw both surprised and calmed the pip. It was an elf of colours similar to what he was used to. He hadn't seen that elf in his panic, and it calmed him to see something he could recognise as normal. The elf was still a stranger, but in a way less of a stranger than any of the others. He was so surprised that he didn't answer him.
When he felt the touch of anothers mind and the gentle sending that came with it he relaxed a good deal more. They wouldn't hurt him. "I- no, I'm not hurt," He looked to the floor a bit overwhelmed with all the eyes on him.
They were strange, different (except the one that wasn't), and all his curiosity surged up within him. Suddenly he looked up. He just couldn't keep his question in any more. "Why-eh... Why do you all look so odd? A-all of you except him?" Swish said with a voice that still shook slightly from crying. He wore a quizzical expression as he looked at them all and pointed at the green-ish elf.
And then he felt another mind with an open send. A new arrival? What did she mean? He was so confused. He needed some answers or he felt that his curiosity would kill him.

~**Panaetha, he's traumatized. He's retreating into himself; I'm afraid he's going to hurt himself. Can you help me calm him?**~ The worry permeated her send, overwhelming the exhaustion. The send is to her alone.

The blue elf blinked, then barked a laugh. "Pip, they are from other places. Like you." He grinned. "Like me. The High Ones gave their ancestors different gifts, which is why they look different." Reefshadow propped himself on one elbow, obviously amused. "But they don't look any funnier than round-ears, do they?" To the adults, it was an obvious attempt to put the child's attackers in a different light, to help him find a way to cope with the situation. He gestures at Keleero with a jerk of his head. "Well, except maybe that one. All he's missing is feathers and he could be a bird."
