OOC: This thread takes place on Day 12 after the first elves arrived in the Beacon Room, about a week after Scouting/Cleaning Prey/Keeping Watch/At work.
It's an open thread, so anyone can jump in with their elves! Just remember to keep what happened during the still on-going threads vague - all we know for sure is that the scouts didn't find Vareesi.
IC: Keleero groaned and leaned his head against the wall of the tunnel he'd been shaping. He'd been working since the sun was up and it had to have set at this point. The others back at the main caves should be awake by now, some out hunting and gathering already no doubt.
Legs shaking, Keleero sank to the cold floor, his back to the tunnel wall. This was useless. Tunneling deeper into the mountain barely raised the temperature at all and without ventilation shafts the air was getting harder to breathe. He was wasting his energy. Maybe he should just grit his teeth and wait for warmer weather, for the snow to go away.
But that was no guarantee, was it? Not one of them knew anything more of this place than the next elf. For all they knew the cold was an eternal presence here. Sunset came from a land of eternal sand, so why not one of eternal snow?
The thought made Keleero shudder further. Without thought he reached out with his magic again, searching, and finding.
Excitment and exhaustion worked together, making him cry out in surprise and triumph.

Choice had been keeping an eye on the new tunnel since he'd woken up at twilight. He had no idea why there was a tunnel there all of a sudden, branching off from the Sleeping Chamber opposite the tunnel that lead to the Beacon Room, but Keleero had to have something to do with it. Choice couldn't help but be both curious and worried what the aloof tall one might be working. Thus he'd remained in the Sleeping Chamber, guarding but not following. He hadn't been idle though. A small pile of darts was growing at his side - not as neat as he'd have been able to do with supplies from his home place, but they'd do. He was just about to turn his attention to a piece of bone he hoped to be able to turn into a knife when a cry cut through the air. It was distant, coming from deep within the new tunnel, and very bird-like. "I-I think Keleero is hurt!" Choice called, hoping to catch the attention of anyone in the Sleeping Chamber or in the Beacon Room. He was too stunned to send to either Keleero or anyone else - being without fellow elves for such a long time had lessened that instinct in him. OOC: Tag anyone!

Through the day Jaseio had been working on some small things out of fur, and hide for the ones needing that in the cold weather raging outside. But all the while she had worried for the stoneshaper. The other elf had been shaping since sun-up, and on the side of her work Jaseio had been trying to supply the hardworking elder with sustenance.
It was now some time since the sun had set, and she had started to tire not long after, and had slumbered a little in the furs of the Sleeping Chamber. Best as she had been dosing off, she was awoken by a distant cry that came from Keleero's tunnel. But it was only when Choice called out that she registered what it actually was.
~**Has something happened Keleero?**~ she sent to him, worried of what it might be, while struggling to get out of the furs, and down the tunnel.

OOC: I saw Stephanie's post here too and moved it back to its original thread. The forum seems to be having issues right now. Make sure to back up your posts, everyone! I'm in contact with support and waiting for answers from them.
IC: Jaseio's sending broke through Keleero's clouded mind. He couldn't help but smile - for once he had good news to answer a question with!
~**I've found a source of heat for us!**~ he lock-sent back to Jaseio, sharing the sensation of hot water hidden behind stone with her. ~**After I've rested for a bit I should be able to shape a water tunnel around our chambers! Given time I might even be able to shape us a bath!**~ Oh how he missed bathing! Going into the icy river in the forest was unthinkable, even if the humans hadn't been a threat. Having warm water to clean oneself in, to relax in - he'd never thought he'd be so happy over something so simple.
Or so tired. He made a weak attempt at getting back on his feet, but his legs wouldn't obey. ~**...I might need some help getting back to the Sleeping Chamber.**~
He lock-sent that to Jaseio without thinking first, exhaustion crowding caution out of his mind. He cursed at himself, but there was no taking back a sending. He was getting soft spending all his time around elves who did nothing but help each other - he just knew one of them would show their true colors eventually and he didn't want to be the one caught with a dagger in his back then. Few elves could be this cooperative and peaceful. He couldn't make himself believe he'd ended up in a place full of them.

Choice sat tense, listening and waiting. No more cry came from the tunnel. Was Keleero badly hurt?
"S-should we do something?" Choice finally worked up the courage to ask Jaseio, as she seemed to be paying attention to the tunnel also, though she hadn't spoken.

Mindlight heard the cry from her place in the Beacon Room. She'd taken to sitting in the room with the giant crystal, mentally probing, hoping that maybe this thing with magic great enough to pull her from her home maybe had a mind to drive it. So far there had been no luck, and it was frustrating. She didn't know what else to try, but this obviously wasn't working. The redhead stood, leaving her pike where it was, and moved out, towards the tunnel Keleero had been working on.
**Are you all right, elder?** She darted past Choice and Jaseio to the tall, bird-like elf, concern on her features. She turned to lock-sending to the glider. ~**I have a little bit of healing -**~
OOC: I totally posted in the right thread. I guess the forum is being sketchy.

OOC: The thing about writing while something new is being posted xD Will just rewrite to fit Mindlight's post in ^^
She was just reaching the mouth of the tunnel when Keleero answered her sending. She cheered loudly at the sensations he sent her, for even if it was a luxury, it was a much missed luxury that had just been found. She turned to Choice, and said: "Keleero's fine! Tired, but fine! He's found hot water!"
~**I'll come and help you back!**~ she quickly sent to Keleero, not at all able to hide her excitement. She was so excited that she fumbled down the dark path as quickly as she could, behind Mindlight whom had gone past her.
As soon as she reached his tired form that sat on the stone floor she went past the redhead, and hugged Keleero, and realised right after what she had done. Jaseio quickly pulled back, a bit embarrassed at her own actions. She barely knew Keleero, well she barely knew any of the other elves here, and the only one she really did had left the ragtag group. It was so different from what she was used to, where she had known everyone either from her own birth or theirs.
"Sorry," she mumbled looking down, but continued, though more subdued, with a smile directed at him, "We should get you back, you can lean on me, if needed." She held out both her hands as she offered him help.

Panaetha was outside, as usual; she couldn't stand the tunnels, not as dark and enclosed as they were. But it seemed there was something going on in there...excited squeals echoed, and she thought she heard someone say someone was fine? Had they been hurt? Her curiosity got the best of her and she tiptoed inside.
**Are you all alright in here?** she asked, her yellow eyes glowing, scanning the rooms. **Seemed like a lot of fuss over waking up,** she sent, a tiny bit of nervous humor in her mind voice. She didn't like being in here...but sleeping outside was taking a toll on her in this cold.

Dazed it took Keleero a moment to realize he had company. At Mindlight's offering of healing all blood drained from Keleero's face. This isn't Steepside, he had to remind himself. She's not one of Elyro's.
True as that might be - had to be since she was animal-blooded and thus something unheard of back at Steepside - Keleero's heart kept racing.
"N-no need," he managed to stutter out, attempting to give Mindlight a smile. She'd only offered to help and there was no need to be rude to her, no matter what memories she'd stirred up. "I'm just a little tired. A bit of rest and I'll be on my feet in no time. But a bit of help getting back wouldn't be amiss."
He held out an arm, grateful for the offer of a shoulder from Jaseio. It was good Vareesi hadn't been the only elf of his height to appear in this place. Not that Mindlight was unhelpful - but leaning on her would have been awkard with the height difference.
**No one's hurt,** he hurried to answer Panaetha. **We found something lovely in fact!**

"Hot water?" Choice said, mostly to himself, as Jaseio stormed off into the new tunnel. At least Keleero wasn't hurt.
Panaetha's sending was a welcome distraction. He went to meet her, having noticed she wasn't comfortable in the caves. "Keleero has shaped a new tunnel, " he said to her as soon as she came into his view. "Jaseio claims he's found water that is hot. Have you ever heard of such a thing?"

Panaetha's fear of the caves was slightly eased when Keleero said something lovely had been found; Choice's sending seemed to indicate a hot spring. The dark elf was somewhat of a comfort to the Glider...many of these elves were strange to her, and while she recognized some of the forms and shapes of other cat-riders like herself, Choice was the only one of a similar hue, even if his was warmer than her own.
"I believe you've found a hot spring," she peered at the other elves, wondering if she could get a glimpse of it from there, or if she'd have to go further in. She turned to Choice and smiled a little. "A hot spring occurs when water deep in the land is heated by the great fire below us...an eternal flame, keeping the land warm and alive, keeping the water, the land's blood, flowing. It may be cold now, but deep below, deeper than we know, it is warm...this water is a gift to help us weather the cold moons." Panaetha was more than willing to brave the caves to bathe in a hot spring, just to thaw out for a moment, get the ice out of her tail.

OOC: Sorry for not posting earlier ^^ Was on vacation with the family, and some personal stuff has been messing with my head ^^
IC: Supporting Keleero, Jasieo slowly walked through the bit of dark cave. "Yes, you have to rest! We can't have you overwork yourself, even if it is a delight what you have found!" Again her excitement crept into her voice, and she couldn't keep from smiling. Back in the Sleeping Chamber she steered towards the rise with the furs on top. "Here, you should lie down. Should I fetch you some water or anything else?" Not knowing what to do with her self right now, she just tried to be of help. Fidgeting a bit with her braids, she day-dreamed a bit of getting a good soak, once available.

The redhead stayed in the tunnel that the glider had been working on, fiddling with the end of one of her cheiftan's braids idling as she stared at the wall. A hot spring... we could all use a good wash. We're not going to be able to keep hunting properly if prey can smell us coming. Despite the thought, she smiled a bit, though sadly, as she remembered the springs from her own holt. Yes, a hot spring will be wonderful.

Sunset yawned, sputtering as the tiny cheetah cub placed a paw in her open mouth. ::Silly.:: She gently blinked sleep dust out of her eyes, blood singing at the call of the night. Her ears twitched as Choice called out that Keleero might be hurt, struggling against sleep to get vertical. Shortly, though, she could hear reassuring noises and was picking up her own fur as Jaseio and Keleero made their way into the sleeping chamber. She offered the glider the fur, gently draping it on his shoulders. "Is everything okay?"

Being the center of attention had Keleero on edge, despite his exhaustion. Were they plotting something? Had the elves present formed an alliance while he was shaping the tunnel? Or even before that?
Don't be a fool! he scolded himself as his eyes darted between Jaseio and Sunset, who stood closest to him. What would they stand to gain from you being injured or killed at this moment? It's much likelier they're looking to get in to your good graces now that there's hot water to be found. It's not like there's another rockshaper they could turn to.
What Keleero didn't reflect over was the absurdity of his suspicions. No one had done him any ill since they'd all arrived in this strange place. There had been no sign that the elves here were anything like his backstabbing kin in Steepside Mountain. But old habits died hard. Especially the kind of habits that had kept you alive for a long, long time.
"I'll be fine," Keleero hurried to repeat, nodding in gratitude at Sunset for the fur she'd put over his shoulders. "Just a bit of rest and...maybe some food?" He hated asking for help, putting himself in someone else's debt. Then again, it was easier to befriend someone who'd done you favors, strange as that was.
"While I rest, does anyone have any particular requests on how to shape our newly found hotspring? What were they like at your homes?" Best to lead the conversation away from him as quickly as possible. It didn't even occur to him that all elfin homes might not have hot water available.
