~**Why would you have to beg? All we have right now is each other, and no one should have to be alone when they have their kittens - or cubs.**~ Sunset rubbed her thumb comfortingly across Nettle's knuckles; cubs and kits were something she would always feel comfortable with. ~**And don't worry about Choice; I'm sure he'll be right next to you the whole time. He's far too eager and whole-heartedly sweet to miss it.**~

Nettle smiled gratefully. ~**Now that's a change. You're being all wise and reasonable**~. She giggled at the irony of it all. ~**Thank you, Sunset. Highones. My head is full of smoke and fumes, but I thank the Highones that you're so grounded. It's comforting**~.
Nettle sighed when Sunset mentioned Choice. ~**That's what worries me. He clings like strangleweed**~. Nettle's nose wrinkled. ~**He wanted to cuddle, Sunset**~. Nettle frowned. ~**The call of recognition answered and he tries to cocoon me in the furs**~.
Nettle blushed. ~**I've never felt so awkward in my life**~.

Sunset smiled wryly. ~**I've been told I was always too grown up. I think Choice...he seems lonely, and like he's been lonely for a long time.**~ Her eyes grew distant, sad. ~**I know how he feels, but he seems to be latching on to the only hope he has for someone he can be close to, while I'm...pushing people away. He seems to think that Recognition is the end-all, be-all - though I've known a couple or two who never spoke again after, it's not unusual for it to turn to lifemating. There's a lot he doesn't say, but you can see it on his face and behind his eyes: you're the first person not to completely shunt him out.**~
She looks at Nettle, her own eyes echoing the pain behind Choice's. ~**I'm sure it's how I felt the first time I found an oasis after wandering in the desert. Drowning ... it's appealing after going that long without water.**~

Nettle sighed. ~**Too grown up and too wise**~. She considered Sunset's words. ~**If we had not recognised, Choice and I, it is true that I would not have given him a second glance**~. Nettle shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. ~**I would be too hip-deep in work, helping to supply the holt, to be worried about taking a new lovemate**~.
Nettle gently squeezed Sunset's hand again. ~**Now I've a friend and a soulmate instead to worry over**~. She took a deep breath to steady herself. She smiled brightly at Sunset. ~**You won't be lonely anymore. Not with me and a growing cub to fuss over**~. Nettle thought on her soulmate too. ~**I will talk to Choice. He and I will decide, together, what is best**. She winked at Sunset. ~**You and I however can worry over smaller things like bedding, food, and making certain that Juniper doesn't plant those dreamberry bushes too soon**~.

OOC: I'll lock this thread and move it to the archive, since Nettle is gone, unless you have something to add Sunset?
