It took No-Sting a moment to follow the trail of hints left by Crispin and Juniper, but when she did she almost burst out laughing. Almost. "The High Ones have a strange way of guiding us," she agreed with Juniper, but still stayed close to Badger and Swift-Wind. Esseltu was unpredictable at the best of times, at least in No-Sting's eyes, and this was definitely not the best of times. "You both all right over there? That must have been quite the shock."

Keleero had drifted to the mouth of the cave tunnel to assess what was going wrong outside, wholly focused on Esseltu's outburst and terror, which meant Juniper 's hand on his arm caught him completely off guard. He looked down at Juniper for a brief moment, trying to comprehend what was that last sending hinted at... And then it hit him like a spear in the gut. It had happened again! So soon. It was almost like a plague. Who knew who would be next?! For a heartbeat, Keleero almost reached out to Sunset for support or comfort or something equally ridiculous and risky, but thankfully he managed to stop himself in time. Right now he should be nowhere near her and the other possible life-bearers. His entire being urged him to flee, to get somewhere safe. Unable to keep the horror from his face, Keleero gave Juniper a last wide-eyed, terrified look, before bolting back into to the Beacon Room at full speed.

FarSight was standing with a look of complete confusion on his face. He hadn't attempted to send to the spot-furred elf, so he hadn't encountered that wall. He also wasn't aware of her history with sending, or rather, lack thereof. "Wait, she can't send?" He motioned to Crispin and Choice, then looked back to Spotfur. "I'm happy that these two seemed to have had their souls join but did she? With whom?"
He apparently hadn't been able to keep up with all the finger pointing and assumptions. Being so new to the group, he hadn't fully gotten to know everyone. "She can't send?" It all came back to that. An elf that couldn't send? But then she wasn't full elf, was she? Maybe it was the cat-blood that prevented her from sending. But then, why is Tambri saying not to send? He was completely confused.

Flint was still rather confused by what was going on at all. Recognition seemed like a terrifying thing still and if anything he wanted to talk this out with Mahrak, if at all. He knew too little about people to be of help here, so when Keleero run back into the cave – despite having barely been outside in the first place – it seemed like a good option to take himself out of this. There should be more than enough people here to handle this. “I'll go after him.” he announced shortly and got up to do so, following the glider inside. At least it should be quieter in there.

With sending clearly hurting Spotfur, Crispin immediately quietened down. She couldn't talk to her, glanced around in hope the others would understand the dilemma. But she would of course be there, to provide any help needed.

As confusing as this all was, it touched him how Choice moved to protect him. No one had really done that for him before and it still mattered as much as the first time. He reached out to take Choices hand, squeeze it a little. ~**I'm alright.**~ Confused, but hardly in danger. “Perhaps she's confused? I... I was, when I first heard sending.” Not that he had trouble doing it, there'd just been no one around to reply for the longest time.

Tambri glanced to FarSight, then Milo at their responses, seeing Flint leaving towards Keleero. "I... Didn't she say something about it being dangerous for her people to send? Something about dying from it?" She tried to remember what the danger was. "Or was it killed? A punishment? She's saying something about a trick... It's too fast and I haven't heard human speech like hers. Where's that bug? The bug might know something."

A number of sends and words went in the Wavedancer's direction but he was having difficulty focusing on any of them. Someone asked him if Spotfur - Yuki, she was Yuki and he could feel her panic and abject terror flooding down their new connection like it was his own and part of him ached to soothe it - someone asked him about her sending, if he'd managed to get through and everything was happening too quickly.
A lump lodged itself in his throat as she said something that he registered as stay away, but how could he? How could he stay away from her? "I - she -"
Reefshadow couldn't get words to form that made sense. He'd heard stories about Recognition from his mother, about the insatiable pull, but nothing could have prepared him for how it actually felt. He watched her, heart aching, hands clenching as he resisted the urge to to go her.
Without moving, he reached his mind again towards hers, gently probing, locksending again, ~**Yuki? Please, I won't hurt you, I promise-**~
No lies mind to mind. But he didn't know if she knew that. If she believed that. If she could believe that. But in that moment she was the only thing he could see; everything else was a jumble of background distraction. His only response to Choice's wordless question was a response of jumbled, overwhelmed confusion and bafflement - and longing.

Her brow furrowed as she tried to make head or tail of the chaos, but her nose alerted her to Keleero, and she watched as the quiet Flint went after him. Unsure exactly what was happening, Sunset felt concern for her friend rise in her stomach and she rolled to her feet.
~**Coming with you,**~ She locksent to Flint to avoid adding to the confusion of the current conversation. What in the world is happening? If it had happened with our newer arrivals I'd have understood but...is this the Beacon's doing?
Her thoughts were a flurry as she disappeared inside after the other two, red braid thumping quietly down her back as she moved.

The wolfrider simply watched the entire chaos of interactions with her mouth open, eyes wide, all of her previous amusement gone. Not able to tear her gaze from the cat elf covered in fur and the shell-shocked Wavedancer, Nightbird responded to Mahrak, ~**...does this happen often around here?**~ Her mind voice held a hint of trepidation but mostly she was absolutely floored at what was happening. Recognition happened with enough frequency in her tribe that it wasn't entirely strange but the quickness with which it seemed to be happening was new even to her.

High Ones, what a mess! People were now dashing away, and discussing if Esseltu could or could not send. Badger kept close to No-Sting, but she was unsure of what she could do in this current situation. The female wolfrider felt immense gratitude of not being any of the Recognizing end -- maybe in another lifetime she might have been glad to Recognize... But here? No. Maybe at some point she might trust someone with her soul name, but at this very moment? Also no. ~**This is wild...**~, she locksent to her friend No-Sting with a mix of feelings. Badger did not know whether she should have laughed or cried or what -- and she was just a bystander! She could not fathom how Esseltu or Reefshadow might feel about this. But also, her imagination fled for a little while to think ... How would their offspring look like??

Keleero fled the scene like the jumpy, leggy bird he was, followed by his closest ... Juniper tilted his head; he did not like to call them Keleero's friends, but what else were they, considering the ragtag group? Considering the meeting had been about soul names and related issues, it was laughable that the related things had struck again.
"I have a feeling the meeting is about to disperse and split...", he said out loud to no one in particular. The treeshaper was happy to return back to his gardening things inside the cave system, considering he was not really a relationship expert, and this was no concern of his -- whatever there was happening around him to others.

Eryk placed his ax away, as this was not an attack of the kind that he understood. And yet, he did not continue working with the sharpening of the poles, as he watched the things unfold in the meeting. Yes, a good thing that his former tribe had given up on Recognition ages ago. Look how much fuss and bad it brought the people who had to go through it. "A trick? Punishment?", he asked Tambri, not entirely understanding the nuances of Esseltu's speech and not to mention ... the carpenter was not entirely aware of the backgrounds of the spotted cat-elf. Somehow the Go-Back felt this was not about the consequences of sending a lot, like his lot often got ... tiredness and headaches...

At Reefshadow's send to her, she jolted and curled in even tighter on herself. Her eyes darted around as others began leaving. Where were they going? They were going to get an Overseer... They were... They knew... They knew! Her fingers brushed the box on the back of her neck, the lights blinking, the yellow starting to drift to a darker shade. Not that she knew what color it was showing. Her heart was pounding in her chest. She wanted to go to Reefshadow, to seek comfort in his arms, but at the same time she was so certain that someone was tricking her. Her eyes began again glancing around, towards the ceiling, looking for windows. Some sign that someone was watching this happen. She was waiting for the light prick of the needle before her life would come violently and horribly to an end. The anticipation was crippling.
"<I...>" She glanced to Milo. She didn't want to believe what her mind was telling her. That he was somehow sent to lure her into breaking one of the many rules of her people. She had been here for a time, now. She had spoken their language, sort of. In a broken way. That was also forbidden and nothing had happened. She spoke directly to Milo, trying to steady her breathing. Her ears were flattened back with her fear, eyes wide, her pupils dilated. (If you have ever seen a nervous cat's eyes...) "<I... don't know... how to respond...>" Her eyes briefly flicked towards Reefshadow. No... Dural. She knew what had happened. What it meant. She knew that, were this where she had come from, they would have a child and the child would be taken from her. Her life and his would be essentially over.
If... if what they had said was true, and this truly was a different place, far from the reaches of the Emperor, then things would be different. But there was one other problem... She couldn't have that child... She couldn't be with him... She forced herself to look away, back down at her knees as she hugged them close to her chest, still shaking. Her tail was flicking wildly, betraying her unease, her racing mind.

Tambri continued to glance between those that remained gathered. Then she heard Spotfur's voice. She glanced over at the elf then back to Reefshadow. That confirmed it. She slowly approached and knelt, still just outside of arm's reach. "Spotfur... When we send... we can only speak truth..." She glanced at Reefshadow and nodded her head slightly. **No one means you harm here. You are safe.** She risked the open send. She watched as the cat-elf flinched again, but didn't look at her. It was odd, not feeling the wall that was there before. ~**She doesn't know how to send back... I'm assuming to you.**~ She locksent to Reefshadow.
She was waiting, unsure what the reaction to the send would be. If she would panic more if someone else tried to send or approach. She noticed the light, the different color. Wasn't it green? "Wasn't... that blinking thing green before?" She hadn't been there when SL2657F had arrived to know that she had been close to death and that the light reflected her status or condition.
FarSight tried to crane his head to see the back of the cat-elf's neck, curious about Tambri's words. He hadn't noticed it, personally, but then he hadn't been behind the spotted elf. "I haven't seen it... What does it mean?"
