Badger struggled up and took a deep breath. Now was not the time to lay on the floor on the cave, so instead, she hurried out to help Mahrak. If Jaseio had the worst of it over her, she needed help first. ~**To pairs dig faster than one.**~ she responded to Mahrak and got on with the task at hand, hoping that there would not be a mourning howl in plans of the near future.

Juniper sent regular pings of sendings to the others digging, but while he was doing that he tried to search for Greywing, calling her by the name and the soul name...
Then, it happened, a sudden sense of relief and calm, instead of the pangs of unfulfilled Recognition. Juniper frowned in his little pocket of air, but took whatever aid he was given. Maybe this meant that the irregular Beacon had worked again, blinking Rakte out of vicinity, maybe to the stars or who knew where.
He decided to keep this feeling to himself, at least until it was confirmed.

Panic and fear for her sister had No-Sting clearing away enough snow to see the back of Swift-Wind's head in mere heartbeats. But No-Sting didn't let her desperation completely get the better of her. She dug only her sister's head free, giving her room to breathe; she wasn't so deep that the weight of the snow would completely prevent her from breathing. ~**Stay calm sister. I'll get you free. But others are still buried.**~ Swift-Wind sent back understanding, along with a great deal of stress, pain and fear. She gasped in quick, shallow breaths. ~**Where is Juniper?**~ No-Sting locksent to Mahrak, forgetting to worry about his magic going mad on them. ~**I'll dig for him while you and Badger get Jaseio free.**~ She reached out to touch Swift-Winds hair, to give her sister some brief comfort.

**A good thought!** Mahrak sent back to Badger though he kept his attention on the snow. He'd torn off his gloves to better channel his magic into the frozen water and the tips of his fingers already ached. He shared Juniper's location best he could with No-Sting, unsure of his sense of Juniper through his magic would help her. The world narrowed down to digging and digging and digging, giving the snow nudges here and there to keep it from trapping the buried ones any worse. Jaseio's head slowly came into view, unmoving and unresponsive. How long could you last without breathing? Limbs shaking with how much of himself he'd put into his watershaping, Mahrak backed off, leaving digging Jaseio's face free to Badger. Two of them going at that side-by-side wouldn't help and he had an idea that just might be more good than bad. **Badger, can you try to get at her shoulders next? I think I can shift the snow so you can pull her out. We need the weight off her or she'll suffocate, mouth free of snow or no.** A gamble, but one with better chance of success than trying to dig her out with their hands alone.

**On it!** Badger responded and did as instructed. Jaseio did not seem to be in a good shape, and the wolfrider maiden only hoped they were not too late. Hurriedly, she dug the snow away around the other elf's upper body, freeing her slowly, inch by inch. "No worries, you are out soon...", she said to Jaseio, who did not respond. Maybe Badger was comforting Jaseio and herself alike. She then grabbed the partially buried maiden beneath her armpits and started tugging her free.

Still strangely calm, Juniper closed his eyes and placed his hand and felt the sleeping roots beneath the snow. Well, his shaping skill was no help here, there was nothing but grasses and small shrubs here. If there had been an acorn or willow seeds, he could have sprouted something to mark his spot. He pinged his location to the others once again, little by little losing his calm.
**Greywing is not answering me.** he sent to the others now, uncertainty evident in his sending.

Mahrak's sending, odd as it had been with his not-sense of where Juniper was, let No-Sting put new effort into digging. Swift-Wind would be fine, she had to tell herself. She could breathe. Juniper was fully trapped. **I'm coming for you, old wolf,** she sent to him as she tore away at the snow, fingers long gone numb. **You'll be free in a-** Juniper's sending about Greywing sent chills down No-Sting's back. She tried to reach out too, searching for Greywing, but couldn't tell if she wasn't finding her due to her own exhaustion or because... **Think on yourself first,** No-Sting sent to Juniper, just as much to distract herself as him. **I can see a tuft of your hair, I'll have your face free before you know it!**

Mahrak waited for Badger to clear away the snow he needed cleared from Jaseio while next to her No-Sting struggled to get to Juniper. He forced himself to stay calm and wait. This would require precision. When Badger began tugging at Jaseio, Mahrak took his chance. He reached out, putting all he had into his magic, and nudged the snow violently. This sent Jaseio popping loose, along with Swift-Wind, and even Juniper's head cleared under No-Sting's fingers, though the poor elf remained trapped otherwise. Still, progress! "Hah!" Mahrak couldn't help but call out, then had to steady himself against the wall of the cave - far too close in this trapped, cold place. Dizziness had began to claw at him. **Who are we missing?** He couldn't sense anyone else in the immediate snow, but it was taking more and more out of him to even try to sense shapes and pocktes, much less actively search for them.

Badger shook her head to the question of who all were missing. She did not know, only having registered the send from the trapped treeshaper that Greywing was not answering him. Why would she answer, tho? Badger had noticed the two being avoidant of each other since whenever, so it was not like they were even friends.
Jaseio freed up, and seemingly not otherwise harmed, Badger hurried to No-Sting’s side to help.

Juniper spat at being called an ‘old wolf’, but he had other things to worry about now — so he just sent **I don’t think Greywing is … dead? Just blinked out by the Beacon?**
Hopefully the case was the same for the rest of the tribemates that were not answering at this moment.

Only death silenced sendings - the Elders had browbeat that into No-Sting a long time ago - but you couldn't send to someone if they weren't within reach of your thoughts either. She already felt exhausted and doubted she could reach out to anyone much farther than right outside the cave they'd gotten stuck in. She needed rest, and she'd not even been buried in the snow, so how much energy for sending could Juniper have? But then again, who was she to say what Juniper could reach and not reach with his mind-voice. Elves were rarely equal in that skill and this was not the time for question-and-answer games. **Let us hope so,** she chose to send back to him, followed by a relieved **Thank you,** to Badger as she came to aid in the digging. No-Sting paid little attention to Mahrak, too focused on getting Juniper free of the snow. OOC: Since Musen has bowed out of the holt, we need Jaseio to vanish in this thread. I'm leaving it up to you Mia if our elves witness her disappear or if they all turn around and suddenly find her missing - either way works for me

Mahrak gave a weak cheer as Badger managed to pull Jaseio free from the snow. Then he had to sit down, his vision going even darker what sight the already dim light of the cave allowed for, precious little finding its way in because of the entrance almost fully being covered in snow still.
He more or less collapsed on the rocky, cold floor, only avoiding knocking his head against the wall because he'd already put his hand against it to keep from stumbling. The dizziness was lessening, but not by much. Looks like I'm not shaping our way out of here any time soon. Icicles, I should be stronger than this!

“Let’s hurry!”, Badger urged the others to dig Juniper out, as they needed to find cover as soon as possible. Despite Jaseio seemed unhurt, she was unconscious and in this cold, it was not good.
“Juniper, can you walk?”, she asked and as the elder made noise and seemed very much alive, the wolfrider maiden moved back to Jaseio’s side, picking her up. Due to the cold and numb hands, the grip of the maiden slipped and Jaseio fell — but there was no thump of a limp body on the snow, there was nothing.
Badger’s face went white and she shrieked in utter horror.
“She was there!”, she shouted to others, “she just!” There was vague gestures as Badger tried to make sense of things. “Jaseio was here, but now she is not!”

With some help, Juniper managed to get himself out of the snowy situation, only to hear the wolfrider maiden scream and shout about Jaseio being gone. The treeshaper bit the inside of his cheek and frowned — it seemed like the Beacon was overworking on blinking folks out — and maybe there would be someone arriving?
Harsh moment to do so, but the Beacon worked in mysterious ways. “We can’t hang out here and wait if the disappeared ones will blink their way back!”, he reminded the others in the blizzard. “Let’s get a move on!”

OOC: saying goodbye to one of our healers.
IC: When given the choice, Mindlight had been more than happy to go with the forest group. She walked light-footed across the still snow, eyes peeled for movement, enjoying the particular quiet that the white fluffy stuff provided.
**We're seeking shelter,** No-Sting open-sent to the other group in the hunting party, **you should probably do the same.**
Her ears perked and she turned back to look at the mountain, the other group well within her sending range. **Noted. Thank you.**
She turned back to her group, **Wonder what's happening up there -**
And then she heard it. The mind-voice scream of avalanche came just as her ears picked up the rumbling, and she turned in time to see a wall of white sweeping down the mountain at them.
There was no getting out of the way in time. There was no shelter to go to. There was only hoping they didn't get swept into the trees and killed by the heavy, white weight as it met the group. Throwing herself on the ground, into the already present snow, the healer reached for one of her boot knives. With all of her strength, she drove it down into the earth below the snow, giving herself a handhold - and then she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
The snow swept over her and it took everything she had to keep from being knocked nose over tail.
In moments it was done, and she swallowed against the fear of being buried. As if in answer to her panic, she felt that twist in the little pocket of air, in her stomach, before the world rushed away around her...
OOC: feel free to find her knife later to confirm she also vanished ^_^
