OoC: Happens four days after the arrival of the first batch of elves. Happens meanwhile the second lot is making its appearance, because we all can't cram to the Beacon Room or the caves.
~*~
Juniper had helped with the shelter quite a lot, mostly because there was no way on this earth he would have slept inside a cave, like a troll. Even now, he was working to make the shelter a little better, using his treeshaping magic to make the shelter a little stronger and ... sheltering. The honey-blond male huffed a little -- despite being experienced, he felt like the trees were hard to shape and bend. They had not been worked upon for quite a while, he thought.
He stopped his work for a little while, Juniper needed a little breather. Skulk was doing what she knew best, watching her bond from afar, and the elf approached her to give a friendly pat on Skulk's back of the neck. The wolf was on the edge, and it whined a little, when the noises from the caves begun sounding. Juniper looked at the cave and sighed a little, mentally preparing himself to shape more room.

Badger had found no comfort from the caves, therefore she had spent as much time outside as possible. Despite being somewhat resistant to the cold, there was not much she was able to do with her current equipment. The fisher elf had tried her best to make a net, but the work was slow and Badger felt her fingers were not as nimble as they used to be, not in this cold weather.
Every once in a while, she had tried her luck with barehanded fishing, and despite being mostly unlucky, the luck had struck today, and she was carrying a reasonably sized fish back to the camp. She noted the treeshaper at work, but once she got closer, Juniper had stopped shaping and was now taking a breather. They had not talked much, but Badger had understood they were both wolfriders, but happened to come from different tribes. "Taking a break, huh?" she said, trying to be jovial, but feeling a sting of jealousy, when she noted Juniper's hand resting on Skulk's neck. Badger missed her bond wolf, now even more that she saw how many elves shared a bond with some sort of a beast. The fisher felt her heart ache a little bit.

As Jaseio stepped out in the cold, which she barely felt because of her winter clothes, she saw some weird looking trees. Well, at least she thought they were trees. They looked like some of the bushes she knew, but they were so tall, compared to what she knew. As Rjúkandi saw the foreign trees, he neighed and didn't really want to go outside, the trees made him nervous. ::You silly horse! It's only trees... I think... But I'm sure they won't do anything to us.:: She sent to him as to reassure him, showing a slight smile. She released his reigns, and let him wander of. He walked around carefully sniffing at his surroundings, studying it. He dug around in the snow, and started to eat some of the scarce grass under it. Jaseio didn't see the little shelter standing some strides away from the newly formed entrance immediately, because Rokuta's question had caught her attention. "The place we come from..." The sadness of her missing family was evident in her eyes, while she was looking at the surroundings. "Well at this time of the seasons, it is filled with snow like here. But the trees... I guess, these are trees, are quite different." She pressed her lips together, and didn't want to talk more about it. It was then she saw the small shelter, and the two elves beside it. "How many elves are there here?" She asked confused to nobody in particular.

Edgerunner had followed Jaseio and Rokuta out of the cave, walking behind them so he could still lean a bit on Asi. As soon as they stepped out into the fresh air, Asis head lifted, and her eyes sparkled like a mountains heart - an expression Edgerunner only knew too well. ::Go on,:: he said and ran his fingers through her soft mane. ::I know you want to explore. I'll be better soon, and I'll join you. For now you can be my eyes.:: Asi liked his shoulder, stuck her nose into the grass and then began to explore the new, exiting surroundings. Edgerunner stood beside the other two elves, and was glad he had had his backpack on him, so now he at least wore his vest, whereas he before had worn nothing but breeches. Good thing he almost never got cold. "Jas.." he started, and already regretted bringing it up. "It is summer back home."

Rokuta was glad that the big horses don’t make much trouble going outside and that they found food by themselves. It was obviously, that Jaseio missed her home and he could understand this. Not everyone was used to travelling around. “I think about ten to fifteen with you…” he answered to the question. “The shelter is for the ones who would rather not sleep in a cave. I myself would also sleep outside, but since there is not much room yet, I stay inside as long as it is that cold.” The boy didn’t interrupt when Edgerunner brought up the topic if it was summer back where they come from or not, for he didn’t know anything about their world and the circumstances that brought them here. More to himself he spoke about his homeplace. “In Vineta is always summer…we have no white cold. Only Floodings, but they bring people together…and there is much more water, all over the ground. We have nearly no place where you could walk on, but wonderful mangroves to climb through and live in. It’s…very different from this place.” Distressed he murmured: “I miss it…”

From the distance, Juniper watched the new elves emerge from the caves. He was not too much of a social personality, and it seemed like there would be more work to be done. He looked at Badger, wordlessly hoping she would go and make the new elves feel like home. For him, Juniper decided, there would be time for introductions later.
"Not much of a break." he then answered to the brunette, "Seems like I need to get back to work." Juniper smiled a little, but then returned to the task at hand. He had managed to make some shelter just by handicraft, but now it was time to shape again -- even if it was a little hard. His hands were bared, when he placed them on the bark. Greenish-golden glow appeared around them, although it was not certain if anyone else saw it. Juniper lost himself, when he started to direct the trees into new shapes.

Badger took a note of the newcomers too. As it looked like the honey-blond male was not going to go and greet them, Badger sighed a little and left the shelter-site to welcome the newcomers. The maiden was curious, and maybe a little afraid, of their large beasts, but hoped they would not cause any harm. "Greetings!" she said to the elves she had not met before, doing her best to give them a charming smile.
"You are new here, but you are welcome to share what we have in the means of food and shelter." She then said, the cold fish still in her hands. Badger wondered how these new elves wanted to have their meals prepared.

She listened to Rokuta's explanation of the shelter, and the description of where he came from. A weird place, it seemed to her. She shrugged her shoulders, thinking nothing more of it for now. "Edgerunner, I don't know what you are talking about, it was winter! Have you been holed up deep inside a cave since you disappeared in the summer?" She told him off sceptically, and looked at him with disbelief. As the other female greeted them Jaseio turned towards her, "Thank you. You are all too kind," she said with a smile that didn't reach her sad eyes, "My name is Jaseio, what of you? And where exactly is this place, if I'm allowed to ask?"

He couldn't care less about the strangers, least at all being greeted. The female in front of them even trying to smile. It was a fine little shelter, they had made, indeed, but what would he care? He just just dropped in a mountain without warning, without his consent, and not to mention anything to drop him at all! And as it wasn't already upsetting enough, this mountain didn't burn inside - something had been glowing, yes, but there wasn't skin-melting hot substances flowing around in there - if there had been, they naturally wouldn't be alive right now. On top of that, Jaseio was rambling. "Jas," Edgerunner grabbed Jaseios arm end forced her to turn her attention to him. "It was summer last time I found myself at home - if someone don't know, what someone is talking about, it's me! What by the burning mountains do you mean, when you say I 'disappeared'?"

Rokuta greeted Badger with a slight nod and then listened silently to the discussion between Jaseio and Edgerunner. It seemed so, that there were little difficulties with the time they come from. “Would like to know by myself where we are…” the boy murmured. Sure it was an adventure to explore new places but he preferred that these places were on his home planet and not somewhere. “Can I help with anything?” He asked Badger, seeing the fish in her hand. When there were more elves, they needed also more food – that could become a problem. Sure he could also help Juniper, but the elf seemed to didn’t want to be distracted from his work.

Juniper worked in silence, but stopped soon for another breather. He watched the newcomers, taking a mental note of the sour demeanor of the other one. It seemed to the treeshaper, that there was some sort of dispute going on.
"Hah!" he muttered under his breath and turned to look at the shelter again. He would have preferred it to be higher off the ground, because he was well aware of the predators -- and the fact there was not much knowledge yet of this new land. The shelter he had been working on was nest-like, comfy little den forming of branches and needles. Well, not as comfy as one could wish, but better than sleeping inside a cave, Juniper mused. He looked up the trees trunk, and wondered how easy it would be to make dens a little higher up.

First impressions were important, and by the looks of it, Badger thought she might grow to like the female of the newcomers. The male, however, did not greet her, and the fisher was not sure if he even acknowledged her presence. *How rude!*, Badger huffed inwardly, but shook off the feeling, hoping that the thought was not visible on her face. Something told the maiden that the dark-haired male would be just an absolute thorn on one's behind. Or maybe the male had a thorn on his behind, for all that Badger knew.
She frowned a little, but then introduced herself to the newcomers, mainly to Jaseio, who had at least some good manners. "My name is Badger." she simply said, then turning to Rokuta. They had not had much time to get acquainted, but they would soon enough, Badger thought. "I suppose this fish needs preparing." she told the boy, "I can manage the cleaning, but I tend to eat my food raw..." She was fully aware of the different diets, and she looked at the newcomers again, "Um, if you want to have a share of the food, I would be more than glad to prepare... But... Um, how do you like it cooked?"
Badger heard a muffled 'hah' from the distance, and she rolled her eyes a little. Juniper was not helping the situation or confusion of the newcomers. She sighed a little, hoping that the treeshaper would not stir any trouble with his distant attitude. The whereabouts of their current residence was asked, and the maiden was sad to give just a simple shrug.
"I'm sorry..." she said, "I would tell more, but I arrived a hand of days ago myself. We have explored a bit, but the stars and terrain are unfamiliar to all of us."

So her name was Badger, she looked like a sweet one. She followed the conversation of her, and Rokuta, and the mentioning of a raw diet, made her confused. "Um.. well... Cooked? We usually just roast it over fire," She was trying hard to keep her mind off of all the chaos, not wanting to break down again in the gathering of strangers. There was way too many things, too many new things she would have to acknowledge now. Edgerunner had grabbed her arm and turned her around. "You...!" She looked at him displeased with his actions, "Listen, you! You disappeared without telling anyone anything! Everyone were so worried about you, especially Gyrðir and Groundseeker! How do you think they felt about it?! In the end when the white cold began, we gave up trying to find you, thinking you dead..." Tears had come forth without her wanting it, she dried them away fiercely as they came. She didn't want to cry right now, she had had enough of crying. Most of all she wanted to run away. Run away, and hide, just to be alone, away from all the troubles so she could grieve the enormous hole which had been torn in her heart.
She turned away from Edgerunner, back to Badger, still shaken, "Oh... So no one has any idea of where we are..." Her shoulders slumped. She had in a way already given up, especially now.

Edgerunner felt like running. He wanted to tune out the world, feel the grass under his feet - or snow or stone or whatever this new place had to offer. There were two problems with this sudden urge to run. Firstly he didn't have any idea what this place held of dangerous places or animals that would just kill him. Normally that wouldn't concern him, but it let to the second problem: He was still hurt. He would hate to admit it at any point, but he was on the verge of fainting, and it did not help that Jaseio kept focussing on the strangers. It was like she wouldn't acknowledge his existence. *They thought me dead* he throught to himself. *All of them thought me dead. Even Groundseeker.. I saw her this morning.. Or would that be.. A morning half a turn ago?* His hand had lingered near Jaseios shoulder, but it now slowly dropped. That explained why she seemed so distant, why she didn't want to look at him. To her, he was dead. The grief was over, and she now had only room for the home she had been torn away from and the strangers, she could get to know. A second before he had wanted to hold her close to comfort her in her grief - and sharing his own - but now he took a silent step backwards. He was a dead man to her, and dead elves should probably stay dead. Another step backwards. It wasn't hard to just go away. Jaseio had turned towards the strangers, so he didn't have to look her in the eyes, and the female named Badger seemed to care more about the fish. Without any more words, Edgerunner let him self slip away as quietly as possible, seeking Asis company and no-one else's. OC: I think this is a natural leaving-the-thread-point for Edgerunner

Slinker had left Keleero to explore on his own. It had been an easy thing to slip out from under the glider's nose, though he undoubtedly would hear about it later when Keleero found him again. The sea-elf would keep him busy enough. Slinker was determined to find out, once and for all, if there were other wolfriders about. It would be easier to talk to others of his kind. Elves that could understand the urgency of their needs. The wolves too would be getting restless. If there was a new pack in the making, Slinker knew that tensions would run high until a hierarchy had been settled.
Slinker, riding atop Ash's back, sniffed the air. He smelt fresh fish, newly caught, and being gutted raw. His bond, drawn to the scent, whined curiously. Slinker grinned when he spotted Badger tending to her catch. His relief was palpable when Ash moved closer. Slinker leaned over his bond's grey furry head and peered at Badger. He howled soft and low in greeting.
"Tell me, lovely one", he said amiably. "Are there others here with wolves too? You smell like family, but I'll need more than one wolf to make a hunting party".
Slinker spied Jaseio, her back turned, though he could see her slumped shoulders. He had overheard some of their conversation. "Cooked food. Hmm. You could always talk to the fireshaper, Tinder. She's a little ways back, keeping to herself. She smelt nervous. I think she's not so sure if the lot of you will take kindly to her because of her magic". Slinker shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly. "She hasn't singed anyone if it helps".
