No-Sting took of at speed. Tree-walking was something she knew well, injuries or no. She could hear the wolves shifting in the snow below her, hear them yelping when Badger's pinecones rained down on them. It didn't take them long to set off after No-Sting; the temptation to chasing something that ran had a heavy pull over predators of all kinds.
Heart in her mouth No-Sting raced from tree to tree, shoulder burning. As brave a front as she'd put on about having outwitted wolves before, those times she'd had the aid of her tribe a sending away. Her only safety net here was Oddspot and Badger - and they'd have a hard enough time keeping themselves unhurt.
Oddspot was rushing along the branches next to No-Sting, trusting her bond to get them to safety.
And there was the river! **Badger, I can see the river! I'll be over in a heartbeat! How are you doing?** Bravado and adrenaline burned in No-Sting. She'd outsmart these wolves for sure!

While the wolves had took off to chase No-Sting, Badger climbed down the tree. It was not graceful, and at the end of the climb she managed to slip and hit her bottom to the snowy, icy ground. I hope it is not going to bruise... she thought in the middle of the adrenaline rush, then scolded herself for thinking only of her own rump, while her new friend was risking her life in the slippery branches. Nevertheless, the wolfrider had gotten herself back to the path and closer to the cave that now was their home.
**I, ahh, I am nearly at home cave!** she replied to No-Sting, whose sending sounded confident and sure. **Please, be safe!** she pleaded her friend. **I would never forgive myself if something happened to you...**

No-Sting gave a laugh as she received Badger's answering sending. Not out of amusement but of sheer joy and thrill at being out and running, trolls take the danger of it! Branches went past under her feet at the speed of skyfire and the stupid wolves didn't have a chance to catch her.
Badger sending that she'd never forgive herself if No-Sting got hurt sent another type of thrill up No-Sting's spine. Her grin grew even wider and she sent back a cheerful, wordless acknowledgement.
She leaped for the other side of the bank - and slipped.
Cursing No-Sting scrambling for a grip on any branch, but to no avail. She landed with an indignated ploof in the deep snow on the other river bank.
Oddspot was soon by her side, giving her a concerned buff with her head. No-Sting buffed right back, blushing furiously. She was glad the only audience she had were the wolves on the other side of the river. She was sure they were laughing at her, in whatever way wolves could laugh, but at least they wouldn't be able to tell anyone.
That's what you get for being reckless and smiling at someone being worried about you.
Digging herself out of the drift took some effort. She emerged cold, with snow inside her clothes and bruises on more than her shoulder. But she was alive and the wolves couldn't get her now.
**I'm making my way back now,** No-Sting sent to Badger once the worst of the embarrassment had faded. She made her way back into the trees, with more care this time. **I think I've lost the wolves, but I'll double back a few times just to be sure. Oddspot is helping me out.**

**Please be safe!**, Badger pleaded again, slightly aware of No-Sting's reckless nature. She slowed her pace down a little and caught her breath -- running in the cold was not as easy as she hoped it was, and the wolfrider made a decision to get better leathers suited for the cold season. Even a proper fur cloak or coat would be enough for the brunette wolfrider.
**I can see the cave entrance now, I'll wait you there.** she notified No-Sting, to show she would not just give up and let No-Sting do whatever.

Wet, shoulder throbbing and with an amused Oddspot walking along beside her, No-Sting flinched at Badger's sending. She did her best to speed up and get back to the cave, but with both legs, rump and shoulder sore she could only move so quickly. She focused on running, only sending pings of reassurance to Badger.
Her legs were shaking when she finally made her way back to the cave. The wolves had given up some way back. This allowed her to look a little more relaxed when she spotted Badger.
"Heh," No-Sting said, well, breathed. "Quite a night, huh?"

By the time No-Sting got to the cave, Badger had already managed to catch her breath. Her anxiousness had not left yet, but it began to fade once she saw her friend approaching. The wolfrider fixed her position and dashed to greet No-Sting, pulling her into a relieved embrace. "Finally!" she gasped, her grey eyes filled with worry, "Are you alright?"

Leaning heavily on the mountain wall No-Sting did her best to look tough. And probably failed miserably. Her legs shook, her back ached and her shoulder was killing her. That said she was alive and not seriously injured - so she'd feel bad for complaning.
"As fine as can be expected," she answered Badger, trying to brush off the night's adventure. "How about you?"
Behind her Oddspot had sat down in the snow, keeping a careful eye on forest behind them. She felt uneasy here on the ground, but she was used to caves and elves sheltering in caves. She'd keep watch until they could go inside.

"Never mind me!" Badger breathed out, looking at the trembling maiden. "Let me help you inside. Is there anything I can do to help?" Badger's worry was genuine; she was not used to others sacrificing their well-being for her sake. Even Redwolf had chosen Hollythorne over her, despite being the sire of the cub Badger no longer carried. The wolfrider huffed a little and tried to brush her old tribesmates off her mind, especially since she now had No-Sting to take care of.
"Anything I can do to help with your shoulder?" she asked, taking No-Sting's hand gently, "A massage?"

Oh, a massage sounded great. Though No-Sting doubted it was being offered in the spirit she herself would have wished it to be.
Start thinking with your head and get it out of the furs, she scolded herself. You might have made it back alive, but you're still hurt. Don't act like an over confident kit.
"Help would be appreciated," No-Sting said, trying to keep any flirting out of her tone of voice. Now was not the time or place. "And any help you can give me with my shoulder is more than welcome. Don't think anything is broken, but I'll have a hard time sleeping on stone today." She was not looking forward to that, no matter how many layers of evergreen was between her and the hard surface.
"But you're sure you're all right?" That came out without thougt. No-Sting tried to ease the question with a smile, now that it was too late to stop herself asking. Again.[/i][/i]

"I am not an expert in healing, though", Badger said, "Not in magical and not in non-magical remedies..." It was tough to admit she was inferior and not knowledgeable, so there was a brief pause, before she added: "You should probably see Panaetha, and not let me probably make it worse for you." The wolfrider hated that feature in herself, always talking herself down and lower than others.
Something about No-Sting's presence was making the brunette blush, and she hoped the tuft-eared maiden would not notice. "I am fine," she replied to the concern of her new friend, "just shaken up a bit."

"Ah, most of the others are asleep," No-Sting hurried to say, making a show of moving her shoulder without flincing (and almost succeeding). "Wouldn't want to wake them due to my clumsiness. Spending a day's rest on this shoulder will teach me to be more careful next time." She added a wink to the end of her sentence, giving Badger a mischievious grin.
"It's good you're unhurt." And No-Sting meant that. She was actually so wrapped up in the events of the past hours that she missed Badger's blush in the low light. "We...eh, we should probably see about getting to our furs. What furs there are, that is. Uhm. Yes. Sleep. Sleep would probably be good."
Since when had she ever been tongue-tied when mentioning furs to a pretty maiden?! Not since she was a gangly youth, that was when! High Ones, she'd not even meant it as flirting - she was genuinly exhausted. But apparently her mind was wandering without her permission and making mountains out of molehills.
Oddspot was giving her a stare No-Sting knew all too well. It was the 'elves make no sense and too much noise'-stare.
OOC: Time to start wrapping this up?

Badger noticed, that the grin and wink were shaking her up more than the wolves -- and not in the scary way. She felt a little butterflies in her stomach, but tried to rule it out as being too tired and slightly hungry. Her blush deepened a little, when the furs were mentioned, but she took it as a suggestion to get some sleep -- just like No-Sting had suggested it. "Umm, yes." she then replied, feeling more shaken than in the forest. The wolfrider thought they should probably share furs, but her second thoughts reminded that spoken out loud the suggestion would got an entirely different meaning. "Ummmm, rest well, then." she said to the tuft-eared maiden, heading to the space intended for sleeping. "Let me know if the pain does not cease, alright?" she called to No-Sting. In her mind, Badger suspected she would not get any sleep, for some reason. ~*~ OoC: Ready to end this. You can either add something or lock this, up to you. Thanks for the thread.

No-Sting gave Badger an awkward smile in answer, making sure to keep some space between them as they headed for the cave meant for sleeping. "I'll do that. Eh. Sleep well." And with butterflies in her stomach, No-Sting followed her own advice and found a place to go to sleep. OOC: That's a wrap! Thanks for exploring the past with me
