Badger was surprised to notice that another wolfrider had appeared to the chamber -- however, the scent told her the newcomer was no one she knew -- although she had wished it had been Howler, Winterleaf, maybe even Windspirit... But no, it was not someone she knew. There was no point for her to remain in the dark chamber, so the fisher went after the panicked maiden to the tunnel, finally getting a breath of fresh air.
With her good eyesight, Badger noticed she was nowhere place familiar. Sighing, she sat down -- despite the ground was cold and snowy -- and looked at the unfamiliar stars. Soon she began to feel colder, but no wonder -- where she HAD been before ripping her here, there had been summer and sunshine.

Keleero too backed away towards the exit - he would probably have continued to leave if the panther hadn't moved to stand growling at the tunnel's mouth. With the aid of the moonlight Keleero could make out more of it features and it looked less than welcoming.
The ceiling wasn't high enough that floating would be any escape - he could barely stand up straight as it was - and shaping the tunnel had drawn on his strength. His heart was beating in his chest like a drum and he was sweating. No shape to go into combat in, should it be necessary.
So he waited in place for the new elf to answer his question.

"Brought you?" Silverthorn did not lower his spear, trusting it in the confusion. Whatever else was about, the spear was solid. And he hat No-Tail - No-Tail who feared nothing, not even the large cat, who flashed his pale fangs and growled in perfect readiness to attack the other animal. The wolf didn't like fighting, wouldn't leap unless he had to, but he was agitated by the small space and the crowd. The wolfrider chief was the same. This cave was not in one of the cliffs of the Longvale, the air and stone felt wrong around him.
There was the free air ahead. Were they being blocked? He'd heard the alarm in the first elf's voice, and smelled the sweat on this one. No, they were all as disoriented as he.
"I'm Silverthorn," he snapped back. "And I have no idea how you or I got here. Move, let me through. Are we still within the Longvale?"

"Longvale?" Keleero asked, the strange word taking him a-back. Well, he did know what a vale was, sort of. He'd had it described to him, at least, by the hunters. At least the stranger didn't seem to know more than they did. "I'm sorry, what is Longvale?"
He did move aside, taking the opportunity to fly outside. He was greeted by cold and trees. They seemed to be at the base of a mountain chain, facing a forest of trees that had green needles instead of leaves. The eerie light of the moon did nothing but underscore how alien the place was, nothing like the outside of Steepside Mountain, covered in white cold stuff and surrounded by such a strange forest.
His companions did not ease his mind much. The one called Badger looked elf-like enough, but she was the size of a child tough clearly not one. The one who'd been frightened by the small space inside the mountain was the strangest, looking more like a beast than an elf; her skin was an odd color and she had a tail!
Choking back a whimper, Keleero floated back towards the exit from the strange chamber. It was good to feel stone against his back, even if it meant standing next to a hole that wild animals might dart out of at any second.

It was colder than she remembered the desert being at night. The small kit in her arms mewled pitifully and attempted to worm closer to the small cat-elf's stomach. Sunset shivered, waking slowly, then with a start as she realized she was on rock and not in the sand dune. Her eyes flew open but she stayed still, listening.
The kit pawed at her again and she sat up, slowly, taking stock of her surroundings. She heard voices, although they echoed strangely. She smelled...wolf, and another cat, although it wasn't cheetah, she knew that much. And elf. She smelled elf. Tentatively, she open sent, as quietly as she could manage, **H-hello?**

Keleero shot up in the air as yet another sender joined them. What by all eggs...? This one came from inside the cave too. Were elves just popping out of the walls?
**Hello?** he sent back, keeping this sending open. The others had already open-sent, so if someone was spying on them they'd already been alerted to their exact location. **Are you lost?**

Sunset bit her lip, not sure whether or not to be relieved. What if they're hostile? The send returned to her was not one she was familiar with. **I - I don't know. Where am I?** Slowly, the cheetah kitten tucked against her stomach, she made her way towards the smells of other elves, bare feet feeling along the rough stone.

OoC: Funny coincidence, I have a char named Sunset, too. In Oakleaf Holt. But he is a sea elf healer. x)

After a bit of a breather, Badger finally got up, wondering what to do next. They were at mountain area, and it seemed like no one had any food with them. With the new elves popping in and out, the maiden decided something needed to be done about the food dilemma. She approached the tree, where the grey-skinned maiden had fled. "Um, excuse me?" she called up, hoping she might get some response, "I was wondering if you happen to have any hunting experience... I, uhh, mean that neither of us know where we are, but neither of us have any food..."
Badger gulped a little and looked at the mountain -- taking a note of more strangers. "We might have a problem, if we do not hunt something edible soon?", she then said up the tree.

Panaetha sat in the tree and stared at the stars. *These stars are so unfamiliar to me,* she sighed; still, the glowing lights helped soothe her. She looked at the branches surrounding her and wrinkled her nose. *Even the trees here are strange...*
Her thoughts were interrupted by the little one who called herself Badger. Most are smaller than you...but that doesn't make them children, she reminded herself; in fact, most of her own tribe was smaller than she was. It was the fact that she didn't have as much cat in her as the rest of them...it was likely the same for the other elves. She looked down, then jumped off the branch, floating to the ground. "I do. I wonder if there's a river around...that would be easiest for me." The grey elf looked down at Badger, her yellow eyes flashing in the moonlight. "Sorry about...in the cave. I...don't do well in enclosed spaces. My name is Panaetha."
Her thoughts were again interrupted by Keleero's send. "It looks like we have even more company," she sighed, rubbing her arm. "How do we get home?" she thought outloud. She scoffed a little and shook her head. She felt much more reasonable now, outside...her tail was back to normal size, lashing lazily behind her. Panaetha looked around and saw Keleero standing near the exit, then looked back to Badger. "Perhaps we should do a little exploring, see what we can find."
In the cave, after Panaetha left, the panther below continued to growl at the wolf, but slowly backed away from the animal and through the entrance Keleero had opened. Once outside, he saw Panaetha talking to Badger, and decided to go explore these strange new surroundings as well.

(( OOC: I suggest the people who're going exploring/hunting start a new thread in the Outside folder, since this thread is spreading out and getting a little crowded. Elves from the Beacon Room can of course switch to that thread if they also wish to go exploring, or make their own thread )) Keleero had begun to shiver. He was not dressed to go outside and outside here was far colder than outside Steepside Mountain had been - or at least it had never been as cold there the few times he'd gone outside. The talk of hunting caught his interest. I'll need to make allies out of those two and that panther beast if I want to live.Arms wrapped around himself he took a step closer to the tunnel he'd made and sent: **It is a relief to know we have at least two capable hunters with us.** Best not to assume anything about those still inside, in case he insulted someone. **I will see about getting us some rooms shaped. It's far too cold to sleep outside and we don't know how long we'll be here.** Or where 'here' was. Keleero glanced up at the stars. For once he wished he'd been like Hamitee, an habitual stargazer. Maybe then he could have found his way home. Not that home was much safer, but at least it was predictable...ish. **Excuse me,** he then sent to the elves inside the cave. **Could someone do something about the wolf? I don't wish to anger it but I do need to come inside and it doesn't seem like it will let me.** He may not know much about animals but instinct told him the sounds the wolf were making weren't friendly. **Also, would somebody be willing to explore the caves with me? I'm a rock-shaper so I can keep us to safe paths.**

"It's ... " Badger muttered -- she understood that not everyone was so keen with closed spaces, "I understand." She rummaged through the belongings she had, and took a note of the fact that she did not have much hunting weapons with her. Her sling, alongside a few good rocks and then the knife. However, she would have to try her best, as it seemed that there was more mouths to feed. None of the newcomers felt familiar, but they all had been elves nonetheless, and Badger felt that kin should be fed. It seemed to the short Wolfrider, that Keleero, the rockshaper, had decided to welcome each and every newcomer, so therefore there was more time for her and Panaetha to explore a little. "We could try and find a river, or other source of water first," Badger then said. ~*~ OoC: Continuing in beaconcallholt.freeforums.net/thread/38/exploring-panaetha-badger-open

Sunset stopped in her tracks momentarily. **Wolf? Who...who does it belong to?** She hugged the small furry bundle closer to her, extending her senses as far as they would go, and continuing to follow the smell of elf. They all seemed to be going the same direction, but with the wind cutting through the tunnels this way, she couldn't be sure. **I'm not even sure I'm going the right direction.**

Silverthorn took a breath, increasingly agitated. This strange tall elf - as tall as a High One! - didn't even know of the Longvale. How far must he be from home? Others of the strangers were rushing about, their minds already on survival, which was a good thing. But on his mind were other, urgent concerns. Were his hunters trying to find him now? Who would lead the tribe in his absence? His focus had to be on return. First, to find out where he was, and then somehow the route back home.
"No-Tail," he called to his bond, who was visibly relieved when the confrontation with the panther ended with no bloodshed. **He belongs to no one. He is my bond-friend.** More elves in the tunnel. And none who made their home here, to judge by their confusion. **Come this way,** his sending reaching out, to the she-elf who'd voiced the question, and anyone else who might still be deeper within. His instinct was immediately to gather them and see them all safe. **There it a way out.**
He took a few steps himself to finally emerge from the cave, No-Tail as his heels. The stars above were bright and... utterly unfamiliar. Far, very far from home...
"Did you also simply appear in the caves? All of you?" he asked Keleero, then frowned and made to loosen the sash at his waist. "Here, tall one. My tunic won't cover you, but make yourself a scarf at least."

Bond-friend? So many new words! But Keleero knew better than to call attention to any lack of knowledge on his own part - unless it was knowledge no one had of course. Wouldn't do to stand out too much.
He did his best to remain still as the new elf exited the tunnel alongside the wolf. Why were all the others so short? Well, most of them, but the only one of normal height had a tail, so...
"Yes, we all just woke up here," Keleero answered Silverthorn's question, shaking away the distracting thoughts. "We are all very, very far from home I think."
He hesitated a heartbeat before taking the offered sash. "Thank you very much. I fear I'm not dressed for this weather."
I wonder what he'll want in return. Keleero hadn't sensed any underlying malice in Silverthorn's sending, but you never knew. Hopefully it would be something simple, like a room shaped in the mountain - hopefully nothing that had to do with risking his life flying above the tree tops scouting. He made sure to keep his feet firmly on the ground just to be safe, even if it felt strange to be standing in the cold, white stuff on the ground. "I was thinking of making some rooms for us in this mountain," Keleero said, trying to quickly redirect the conversation from the favore Silverthorn had done him. He did tie the scarf around his neck though. "Would you like to help me search the tunnels or are you planning on going further outside?"
To the female elf inside the cave he sent: **We are all out here, but I'm about to go inside again. It's terribly cold. There's a layer of cold something on everything.** He added an image of the world around him to the sending, as well as the feeling of cold to the sending.

Sunset began to follow until she heard the send about a layer of cold outside. **If it is truly that cold out, I think I will stay inside...at least until I can figure out a way to make something warmer.** She shivered at the image.
