OoC: Happens maybe a day after Juniper's unwanted Recognition with Greywing. Tag Keleero for company. ~*~ Juniper had slept unwell. The hammering of the soul name bothered him, but the treeshaper felt he could push the annoying feeling, if he had something else to focus on. Taking care of not bumping into Greywing , he made his way to the caves and to the one room they had reserved for the indoor gardens. There was still not much light for the plants, but at least they had managed to get some soil revealed for the roots of the plants. Juniper frowned when he checked what seeds they had in storage. Nettle had brought some seeds with her, and now Juniper was going through them. There was not much, some medicinal herbs... Some edible plants' seeds... Dreamberry seeds. The treeshaper sighed. The smaller things could be grown in the cave, he felt. But... The dreamberry bushes needed way more room than a cave.

"Ah, you're...here," came a voice from behind Juniper. Keleero hovered in the doorway to the small garden-cave; litteraly. Having admitted that most elves at Beacon Call had seen him fly on more than one occassion, Keleero had allowed himself to slip back into his natural habit of floating rather than walking. "How...how are you?" OOC: I'm playing Keleero as having realized Juniper has been in a bad mood in the last 24 hours. It's up to you and Tam to decide if Juniper and Greywing have tried to keep their Recognition secret or not

OoC: I'd say Juniper would not flat out say he Recognized Greywing, but his condition might become evident to anyone who spends time with him.
~*~
Jumpy due to the current condition of things, Juniper almost dropped the seed pouches he was holding at the moment. "Do NOT sneak like that!" he snapped at the glider, his face in a snarl. The snarl disappeared in a heartbeat, and the treeshaper sighed.
"I apologize." he then said, trying to mellow his expression a little. "I have not been well." And that was about all he wanted to say about the things happening at the very moment. "I came here to look what we could sow here. The plants will need light, though."

Keleero reacted to the sudden threat display as he'd long ago learned; freezing, showing no emotional reaction, and putting a hand on the nearest wall; just in case he'd have to defend himself.
Thankfully Juniper's show of anger was brief. Keleero's heartbeat evened out into its natural pace and he didn't even need to take a deeper breath than normal before he spoke: "I apologize, it was not my intention to startle you. And I'm sorry to hear you're feeling poorly. I understand you have healing skills of your own, but maybe assistance from Panaetha or Mindlight would be of help?"
Not that Keleero would push magical healing on anyone. Showing concern was a good way of making allies though, so he wasn't about to pass that opportunity up. But best not to dig too deep - Juniper had said more than just stated his general health and it wouldn't do to ignore anything.
"Hmm, light you say?" Keleero's forehead wrinkled into a frown. "We had a trick where I come from that involves mirrors, but I'm not sure that would be the same as direct sunlight, would it? And there is a way to make stone transparent, but I'm not sure I alone could accomplish that and it would be very visible from the outside." Keleero supressed a shudder thinking of the consequences such a clear sign of magic could lead to - the local humans would surely note such a change in the mountain, should they ever travel close enough to see!

Juniper stifled a sneering laugh. NO healer could help with his poor state of ... mind? body? soul?? Instead of accepting or refusing help from either mentioned elves, he just shrugged. The treeshaper did not feel like parading his condition to the others. "I can see if there is some herbs to aid me." he then said, to keep the discussion off of his health. At the same time, he thought if Choice would give some of the fungus he had gathered with Rak-- Greywing. Getting decent sleep would be good for him.
Mirrors were a foreign concept to the wolfrider, but the treeshaper tried to think of other possibilities. Transparent stone would be interesting, but he trusted the bird-elf's judgement about the amount of work. "Some bulbs need darkness first to thrive, but without light, I can't grow much." he mused, "Well, I can aid magically, but..."

Suggestion of healers' aid reject Keleero chose to focus on their joint project.
"I could, perhaps, make a number of smaller see-through spots," he said, frowning up at the cave's ceiling. "The mirrors at Steepside have always been a lot of work, since the sun moves around so much. I highly doubt we'd have the people to spare for maintaining such a system. But perhaps..."
He hesitated. Whatever was rubbing Juniper the wrong way right now, illness or anger, Keleero truly wanted no part of it if he could help it. But explaining what he had planned would be tricky without sharing a sending. Then again, sending to someone didn't have to go that deep. And it wasn't as if you could catch a sickness through sending.
"I could show you what I have in mind," Keleero finally decided to say, a little hesitant. "Send it, I mean."

Juniper squatted to examine the soil better. They had brought bones and scraps to make it more rich, and there was water always available. The only problem was the light, but the treeshaper was willing to work with the ideas offered to him. The blond caught the hesitation of the bird-bone, and he narrowed his eyes a little, the gaze of his blue eyes getting more wolf-like and getting a glint.
The moment was over in a heart-beat, and Juniper straightened his posture. "Sure thing." he then agreed to the sending. His condition was not too bad, he could easily keep it a secret, or that was what the treeshaper kept telling himself. Keleero was not a healer, Juniper reminded himself... Keleero would not sneak in and rummage through his thoughts.

Outwardly Keleero didn't flinch at the odd, animalistic look Juniper gave him. Inwardly he gulped. He still hadn't come to terms with the fact that most of his fellow elves here shared the blood of wild beasts. Often enough it wasn't too obvious so Keleero could push that niggling though to the back of his mind. But now... "I...yes," Keleero replied when Juniper gave him the go-ahead to send. "I was thinking something like this." Keleero reached out with his mind to connect it to Juniper's and began with showing an image of the cave as it was in that moment. The cave wall facing the outside slowly transformed, gaining smalls spots of see-through material and letting in rays of sunlight from multiple angles. OOC: Letting you decide if Juniper gives anything away or not while they're mentally connected, seeing as he's your character

Juniper noticed he had difficulties to concentrate, as the soul name of Greywing sang through his mind. It was still like the spring ice breaking under warmth, that's how it sounded in his mind. The treeshaper did his best to focus on the sending he had, but he noticed some sweat beading on his forehead for the sheer stress of it.
As soon as the glider had shared the initial idea, Juniper forcefully broke the contact. Less he was in sending link with others, less chance there was for him to get caught with his pitiful predicament. "Yes, I got the idea." he hastily said, and swiped his forehead, looking really distressed. "I give my full support for the plan." he then added, hoping that Keleero would not want to send any more things to him.

Keleero was no stranger to people breaking mental contact with him. If this had been Steepside he wouldn't have been surprised - would in fact have been prepared for it - but it seemed life at Beacon Call already was wearing away at his old habits and defenses. His eyes widened when Juniper broke contact and he didn't have the time to adjust his expression before Juniper surely saw his surprise.
Schooling his face into a neutral expression, Keleero thought, Best play along. Something was definitely wrong, but it was none of Keleero's business and he... No. You can't afford to think like that here. We're so few as it is and even fewer hunters and magic users.
Taking a deep breath Keleero floated a little away from Juniper, unsure of what to do. "Eh, that's good. I'll start working on it right away. But..." Oh he was so bad at this with people he actually knew, so talking to a relative stranger like Juniper was close to impossible. "...Are you sure you do not need a healer? Is there anything the matter?"

Juniper uttered a laugh, that he tried to make sound casual -- it just came out a more or less strained and forced. "Healer? Why, no!" he cackled a little, and tried to get a grip of himself. Swiping the sweat off his face, Juniper harrumphed, finally feeling that he was getting over and in the charge of his predicament.
"I am absolutely fine." he assured Keleero and gave a wolfish grin to put the glider at ease.

Deeply unsettled Keleero forced himself not to react beyond an accepting nod. "That is good to hear. Should I get started on the crystal holes? It will take a long time to make them, but I think I could get one or two done today." As he spoke his thoughts ran in circles, trying to pinpoint the reason for Juniper's changed behavior. It could be illness, but what reason could Juniper have to hide such a thing? Could he have been forced into a link with someone else? But if so, who? Or maybe...no, surely not. Though his behavior reminded Keleero of how his fellow elves at Steepside tended to react to Recognizing, no information he'd gathered told him elves here wouldn't welcome such a thing. Choice and Nettle sure had been happy when it happened for them. Best way to rule that out is to go searching. Keleero bit the inside of his cheek, then said: "Oh, did you find what you were looking for yesterday? When you went out with Greywing."

Juniper thought that the issue had been dealt with, so the wolfrider settled to examine some seeds that he could sow and help to become saplings. At the mention of Greywing, Juniper nearly swallowed his tongue and sudden jump made him scatter the precious seeds all around. "YES, yes, we found some aid for Choice!", he shrieked and then cleared his throat and brought his tone back to acceptable level. "I mean, yes, we got the remedy." And a little something he rather would not have wanted.

Stomach turning into knots Keleero did his best to keep an even expression. He hadn't meant to bait a reaction out of Juniper, but the habit to do so was millenia in the making, almost an instinct. He couldn't say for sure what had happened between Juniper and Greywing - he was no flithy sending-snatcher after all. That said this scenario reminded him far too much of eights upon eights that had played out in Steepside, where Recognition for a long, long time had been a burden and a danger.
"That is good to hear," Keleero said, his mind racing. "Choice has seemed much distraught since Nettle vanished. It is good if anything can be done for him." Juniper had to know that Keleero knew something was wrong. Surely he had to. Immediately Keleeros thoughts went to how to signal understanding and alliance to Juniper. It never occured to him to right out ask about what troubled Juniper; if ever Keleero had had a straightforward nature life had beaten that out of him by his seventh century. So instead he continuted with: "As I understand it Recognition can be a trying thing...even when it's wanted." He left the sentence weighted with meaning, hoping that would be enough for Juniper to understand he was offering no threat, only the possibility of alliance.

Juniper laughed a slightly strained laugh, as he collected the seeds he had accidentally scattered around. Keleero told Recognition to be a trying thing, but to Juniper, that was the understatement of the century. For a brief moment, the plantshaper wondered why he even struggled against the pull of the call, but then he shook his golden, honey blond locks and picked the last of the big seeds. Keleero was not the easiest elf to read, especially considering how Greywing's name hammered Juniper's soul and head. He had to admit it, the plantshaper had his focus scattered like the seeds had been earlier, and they were harder to grasp than slippery little fishes. Juniper looked at Keleero with a puzzled expression, as if the glider had grown actual wings on his back. There was something in between Keleero's lines, but what it was, Juniper was not sure. "So...", he said and raised the pouch, "If we start the garden with some simple and easy things?"
